Hey buddy,

I knew that you've been a little apprehensive about what to do if you finally ever do catch that skunk. So I thought I'd give you a little step by step tutorial, just in case.

This can also serve as a half decent learning program for anyone else who has a skunk that needs to be Relocated, in an odor free manner.

First off, you need to catch the Skunk. If you notice, for bait I use what ever kind of canned catfood that Wal-Mart has on sale for $.94 a four pack.

Then it is just a matter of slowly walking up, and opening a sheet between you and the skunk.

Once the sheet is open, keep it between you and the cage and slowly step forward.

Cover the cage

Then slowly pick it up

The next stage is transporting the skunk.

Simply carry the covered cage to your truck.

Put it into the back.

And take it to an area suitable for release.

This skunk was release close to the house, and I didn't want the dogs to tangle with him later, so I decided to euthanise him. As you notice, as the skunk left the trap, I was reaching for my euthanisation equipment.

The final step is a simple pull to actuate euthanisation process that hopefully, even you Texans can understand.

Where is Tripp anyway? Figured the honeymoon would be over by now.

Tim, that's some good shit. I have printed it off and am going to take it to my neighbor who likes to think of himself as a skunk trapper. I always know when he traps one because I wake up to the whole house smelling of skunk and my wife cussing. He is an old retired guy who only has an air rifle and is not a good shot. It usually takes him between 4-6 shots to dispatch the skunk so you can imagine how bad it gets. When I tell him to come and get me he always says he doesn't want to wake me up so early. I finally told him it's too late for that!

What happened to Tripp anyway?

I started wearing my hat again about a week ago. I bought a hat stretcher and put it in the hat any time that I'm not wearing it. It shrinks back down and starts hurting each afternoon, and I keep it so loose that I can't wear it if the wind is blowing. Rich had better get used to sleeping on his stomach and wearing loose shirts for the next year or so. My scars are fading, but I can't believe how much they still ache if something touches them.

Tim, Great step by step. Really liked the euthinasia part, nice form. Reminds me of a buddy of mine who borrowed a cage trap from me for the same reason. I told him the whole routine with the blanket and everything. Next day, sure enough, the trap was sprung. He crept up to it with the blanket and got it covered.
This next part is were he screwed up. Down to the pond he goes to 'euthinize' the stinky varmit. The bubbles quit, so out of the water it comes, and there in the cage is his daughters cat [Eek!]
