Spent the weekend hunting the sandhills and panhandle with Q and got a great picture to share with you guys. We were driving out of the hills just after sunset and Quinton remarked about how good the sunset looked that night. While going along in the truck, I looked out his window and saw the silhouette of a windmill against the vivid colors of the western sky and yelled to Q to stop. He probably thought I'd spotted a coyote. In fact, I saw a photo op.

I had him grab his gun, sticks and one of the four coyotes we had in the truck and made him start walking around while I grabbed some stills. I really like the results and wanted to offer it to you guys to see and, if you want, grab to use as a desktop background. I'm having a copy framed for my office and am titling it, "Last stand". Hope you like.

It's just a cheap Kodak CX7300. 3.2 megapixel, I think. Never leave home without it.

That is a very nice photo.

Here's one that is kind of similar, but isn't nearly as good. I took it about 8 years ago, and call it "skunked":

That is a great pic. Lance. I took a sunset pic. on an elk hunt years ago of 4 guys packing out an elk. I blew it up and framed 4 prints for those that were in it and gave them as Christmas gifts. Maybe ya could do the same for Q, might be cheaper than his bill!

Lance,

How much is sales tax in Kansas?

Posted by Cdog911 (Member # 7) on November 28, 2006, 08:12 PM:

Why, Tripp, the state sales tax is 4.9%, then you add on county and local taxes and here in Abilene, we're currently being hit up for 6.8%. Thanks for asking.

That right there, my friend, is a killer shot. It would sure make a sweet 2-page full-bleed spread for a color feature backing one of your stories, wouldn't it? Of course, now that you've surrendered use rights to all of us yahoos for our computer desktops, your editors might be a little reluctant to pay you for it.

Regardless, thanks. I'll be among the first to decorate my desktop with it (but I'll put a credit line at the bottom of the page)
Best,
Dennis

Dennis,

I considered that before posting it, but the camera I used didn't have fine nough resolution for reproduction in a magazine spread. Even the original in 8X10 on my wall is a bit blurred. So, with that in mind, I decided y'all were more important. [Smile]
