Edited. Didn't see Rich's post on the same subject.

Time 7:30AM Arizony time, 09-27-05

I talked to Ronnie this morning and he is doing fine. The heat index for the area has been 105 degrees lately. He managed to obtain a portable AC unit and said he slept well for the first time in days.

Says gas lines are three hours long.

Also said that crews from Oregon are there to do the logging clearing.

His daughter’s boyfriend is traveling about taking photos of the devastated area and has posted them for us to see at

www.rayburnroofing.com/rita

It loads slow due to dial-up so be patient.

Ronnie is in one picture shown on his ATC carrying a shotgun. Said you do not dare travel about without protection. I could not find that picture. One picture shows a glass table that survived.

Look at the number of hits this site already has.

That's a bunch of pictures. I couldn't tell which might have been of Ronnie's place? Saw some guy in a camo guard tower, and the glass table. One thing, this "Broadband" kicks ass, every page and the enlargements come up instantly.

Good hunting. LB

My partners got two sons that work for a company that normally builds new power lines. Lately its been hurricane repair. They are in Beaumont now. They called yesterday when we were headed out to look for a doper. I guess they have them living in tents, supplied by the PGA of all things, in downtown Beaumont. They said it is pretty much a total wreck. I dont think thats far from Ronnie.

Hopefully they will be emailing some pics soon. Probably as soon as they can get power back and move to a campground in their RVs anyway....

Ill share them as well if anyone is interested.

I was in Mississippi the same week, just after Katrina hit, looking for another quality citizen. Even being 100+ miles inland, it was quite the disaster. We have alot of tornados, but this was like nothing I had ever seen. I wish I had taken pics. Its hard to describe to someone what it really looks like and those people really are struggling. Sad thing.

Ronnie said that First to show up and help was a church. First a van checking on people handing out water and MRE's followed by a Semi-truck that opened up and had hot steaming food available. Showed up withing 24 hours of the storm.

Second to show was a church. Same thing.
(sidenote: What do you suppose those assholes wanting to take God out of the Pledge would say?)

Third to show another 24 hours later in force was the Salvation Army.

Ronnie said that a Mayor of one of the towns told one of the church semi's offering food that they could not distribute food because they had no permit and made them leave.

I was told that Clear-channel radio stations are the only ones reporting and broadcasting in the area.

Power will be slow in coming mainly because Texas and surrounding states sent electrical supplies, parts and equipment to Louisianna and stuff is in short supply locally.

One reason that the churches were able to arrive on scene so fast is because rather than sit around waiting to be rescued, the locals grabbed their chainsaws and equipment they had to clear paths so help could get to them. Locals were even using horses to pull fallen trees out of the way. Don't know if they were shod or not and never heard if any were eaten.

The point is... that these people didn't wait around whining for help and crying for checks. Instead, they got out and helped themselves. If you're trapped in a tunnel, it speeds things up if digging is done from both ends.

Ronnie's picture is up now on page 4 next to the Redneck Homeland Security Tower/Combination Deer Tripod.

Ronnie's neighbor just had his first looter last night. Didn't get away with anything. Suspected that he was casing the generator to return later. One missed gunshot chased the would-be looter away.
