Ronnie's son-in-law set up a website to host photos of Rita's aftermath. Check out Ronnie in the yellow shirt on the 4-wheeler with a shotgun slung across him. His neighbor is sitting in a tripod with a rifle and a sign that reads "REDNECK HOMELAND SECURITY DEFENSE' They are guarding their ends of the road.

I found Ronnie's house, his buddy in the stand, Ronnie's street, their hot tub... but nooooooooo Ronnie... sigh. The pics on Bancroft Road are of Ronnie's and the road out front of his house.
Just heard from him. He tells me that anyone that can pick up Clear Channel Radio to do so. They are broadcasting live from Beaumont and giving live coverage of the actual damage and cleanup. He said, they even have people calling in that need help or that are just reporting on their own cleanup efforts.

I just got a call from a friend with Westar Electrical (used to be Kansas Power & Light) who is in Lake Charles, LA tonight. He says it's far worse there than what he saw in New Orleans. Said there isn't a light bulb lit for fifty miles east or west, and no power to the Gulf. Said he's in a parking lot staging area for working crews with about 1500 other workers but is lucky because at least he sleeps in an A/C'd semi trailer with 34 other Westar employees. Said they have quite a tent city set up and that a lot of RC and church projects are cropping up here and there to feed people and distribute water and ice. He said that there are folks there from every state and city working side by side, and that they're spread awfully thin, since a lot of guys were remobilized to NC for the hurricane up north. He agreed that there are a lot of resources needed in TX since they sent all their extra materials to LA and MS after Katrina.
Sure wish there was more I could do for Ronnie and his ilk from hereabouts.

Finally found it. Hell, with a killer attack dog like that coverin' his back, he don't need no stinkin' shotgun.
Here's the pic of Ronnie for those who might be having trouble.

Good to see him looking good. [ September 29, 2005, 05:29 PM: Message edited by: Cdog911 ]

I've never met Ronnie, or even talked to him on the phone. We've just been bumping into each other on various boards on the 'net for the last 10-15 years.
But when that storm hit, I was as nervous for him and as worried for him as I could be for any close friend.
It sure is good to hear and see pictures of him out and about and doing so well.

Ronnie said that looters are their first concern, mostly target all the generators. Ronnie set his trail cameras up to cover his generator, said that if they 'flash' it will set his dogs off also, make it pretty hot for the looter. LEO told them that they don't want to contend with having to arrest looters, no place for them,. Said to shoot til the firearm clicks. If he's still moving reload and shoot till empty. Ronnie said that FEMA was doing a good job in the area. One FEMA employee told Ronnie that he was impressed with the way the Texans took care of themselves instead of waiting with their hands out for the gov't to do it for them. Said he saw 5 kids dragging a tree off the road, saw horses being used to drag trees off the road and that most everyone down there seemed to have a chainsaw and a tractor. Big difference between there and NO

Just wanted to let everyone know that I just talked with Ronnie and his electricity came back on last night. Speaking as one who spent 4 days without electricity in the 108° heat, that is a huge step back to normalcy. Ronnie sends his best to all, and is anxious now for when he can get back on line.
Thanks, ScottD

I can understand the absence of tractors and chainsaws in NO. It's the lack of initiative, self-reliance, and motivation that is inexcusable.
