Well Ive been staying out of the Arizona Sun by reading a book called "Now it Can Be Told": The story of the Manhattan Project.

General Leslie M. Groves wrote it.

Now what makes this book good was that General Groves was in fact one of the "Big Bosses" throughout the development of the A-bomb and its subsequent drops over Japan, so you get a pretty unique viewpoint upon a definately unique event.

But what is more interesting (alarming) than that is the apparent amount of sheer luck and guesswork that went into all of this.

Millions were committed, and nobody was really too sure what would be the outcome of this venture, whether it would work, or where it would lead if it did.

Can you imagine such a gamble being taken today?

Under the circumstances, in a second.

We spend 1000 times that much on welfare now.
