Tripp......I heard you were in jail. When did you get out? Did you meet that BTK dirtbag? If so, can you bring him along in Oct? I know a couple of ol' cowboys that have a saddle bag full of rope tricks they'd like to show him.

My six year old has been knocking the heck out of the trout this summer. What seemed like years of waiting for him, the the lakes and streams finally cleared up enough for some good fishing and even better catching. I've pretty much got him convinced that releasing "most" of what he catches is the way to go, and it's much easier to release them from a fly than a swallowed worm. ![[Wink]](wink.gif) It keeps me from constantly baiting hooks and cleaning and keeps Mom from cookin' trout several times a week.
Shot 26 rockchucks in about 20 minutes the other morning. Missed two but got them both on the second shot. Good fun.
Shot a pigeon the other day and noticed it had bands on both legs. I cut off the bands and with a little internet detective work found out the damn thing was a racing pigeon from just north of Bakerfield, California! How the heck that thing ended perched on a barn in north central Idaho I'll never know. I didn't know pigeon racing was such a big deal until I read a little about it. Some people pump big dollars into buying and racing pigeons of all things. I could well have shot the "Seattle Slew" of the pigeon racing world. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Went out yesterday. Caught one by the house.
Went out into the desert and caught another.
Went in a little further and caught three.
Sent Mattie out and she caught them also.

Tons of garter snakes, a couple of lizards, and 2 cotton-tail bunnies, and a baby duck (I gave her back to the momma relatively quickly; I was very proud of her. She was furious and ready and willing to take me on if'n I'd get into the water with her. I was impressed and gave her baby back right away)
P.S. Whenever I go hunting, it is inevitable that some knucklehead will ask, "How many did you catch?"

I have been hitting the ground squirrels pretty good lately. Over 300 last week on an already too high center pivot. I missed the best shooting because I was out of the country for 2 weeks and it took almost another week to recuperate, read all the mail and pay all the bills.

How often are you calling the same areas and bringing in the same coyotes? Just give me a for instance or two! I am very interested in knowing!

Danny, since I call every weekend and sometimes during the week, I call the same areas fairly often. I can't know for certain that I'm bringing in the same coyotes unless they have definitive markings or behaviors. The three coyotes in the third pic are very territorial so it's likely that they are the same coyotes that respond each time I call that area. They are bark howling and pooping and peeing and scratching that clearing where Mattie squatted and pee'ed while chasing them around. Check the open mouths and elevated tails. The larger of the coyotes will also move away from the others and lie down and casually howl at me. He has done that twice before. One of the coyotes in another area that I call occasionally has a bark howl that sounds like a whistle. Very distinctive. I have that on video a couple of times. The coyotes in the areas around the house just don't show themselves to me anymore, even the pups. Something to be said about instructional learning. Coyotes in other areas just keep coming in as though they enjoy the show. Although I did call three coyotes up to the back wall yesterday evening and video'ed them harrassing Phoebe and Mattie through the drain openings. That doesn't happen often.

So do coyotes come in to the sound in the heat of the summer pretty good? They still have to eat do'nt they? I have'nt called any in for several days now. I was doing pretty good until it reached 110 degrees.

Still confined to the barricks for another four weeks. Working my way through the pile of tapes Rich sent. The knitting kit Jay sent is going slow.
My partner snuck me out to the hog trap. We had number 15, and 16. I have been doing a lot of polishing on my S & W model 1911. Judy did take me to the range, and let me run a few rounds through it. I watched her run a 150 rounds through her Sprinfield-XD. I have some serious work to do to catch up with her.
I have been geting so fired up to go calling watching all the tapes. I have already picked out a spot to call on the way home from the next DR's visit.
