All,

Most of the members here know Ronnie Robinson (aka Varmint Hunter)who, I might add, considers this board to be his "family". When I got to the office this morning, there was a voicemail message waiting from Ronnie. This was a heckuva thing to start the day off with because, for those of you who have never heard Ronnie's voice, it sounds something like a file being drug across the edge of a piece of corrugated tin.

Anyway, Ronnie had, among other things, a pretty severe injury to his neck recenly, and was called into some major surgery this morning to try and fix this injury. The surgery was to begin around 7:30 Texas time. This was a pretty major operation, but true to his nature, Ronnie was actually looking forward to it. Based on his description of it, I would have looked more forward to a gunfight.

I though it would really be nice for when Ronnie returns to this board in a few(??) days that he find a huge number of posts wishing him well from his "family".

So if anybody's inclined, please post here and keep it going so it stays at the top. Please have a good thought for Ronnie and his family today and lift up a prayer if you're so inclined.

Thanks,
ScottD

I'll be thinking the best thoughts for Ronnie that I can. Which is as close to praying as I get. I just plain admire the Man. And want things to go as good as they possibly can for him.

The man is all heart and tough as nails. He will breeze through this like all the other obstacles dropped in his path. Good thoughts have to help though. Thanks for the heads up Scott.

Ronnie,

Have never had the pleasure, but hope to someday. Hope your operation went well and you're back up and fighting and soon as possible.

Enjoy your posts and hope to enjoy them long into the future.

Good luck and God bless you.

Hmmmm?

Now I can play that game! [Wink]

I have spoken to Ronnie on the phone, a couple times now, at least Scott has the advantage of speaking Texican!

I musta said "A what?" a dozen times... [Smile]

"file being drug across a piece of tin"...yup that's close to it, I was thinking a rolling 55 gallon drum, half full of gravel, a bit deeper than the tin/file combo.

I was honored recently by being able to trade calls with Ronnie, and even more honored by the responses he had about my work.
There was recently a topic about what makes a master caller, I'd say the ability to make a miriad of sounds from one call, the way Ronnie can, would put you in line to be considered a master.
(*Note, I thought Danny's decription was hilarious... all I gotta do now is call a badger and I'll be a master... NOT - )

Vic,

Different Rons... [Wink]

Ronnie Robison from Orange Tx had the surgery, and hasn't been feeling well for quite some time.
Ronnie does design and developement for one of the big outdoor products firms, shoots some big ugly hogs, and like Scott Huber comes to the boards with pretty much "nothing but the facts".
He grew up in the swamp country of east Texas, puddling about in small boats, hunting, fishing and trapping. He's one of very few people I think could come and hunt the "unhuntable" country here, and not get his ass handed to him.

Ron Welch from the northeastern corner of California, is the one who used we used to talk to in the chat, and also makes really nice calls (which are available at allpredatorcalls.com).
I am not sure if Ron ever joined HuntMasters, but like most of the guys who use the chat, I am sure he was there when a link to a running topic was posted.

Both guys are top notch kinda people. [Big Grin]
