$2.09 a gallon here for regular...You either got a big tank or the price is outragious or both

It's $2.29 for regular and $2.49 for extra in Carrizozo New Mexico. 50 gallons of regular would cost me $114.50, lucky for me I only have a 15 gallon tank and get close to 20 mpg.

Cheapest here is $2.47 [Confused]

$2.27 at Smith's grocery store and a 5 cent a gallon discount if you have bought $25 worth of groceries in the last 30 days.

Of course, at this altitude regular is only 85 octane.

Those Utah prices look pretty good especially compared to what the Utah prices are at the western border areas.

Geez Danny, how low do you let that thing get?

I drive a 550 Powerstroke for a work truck, and my record is just a few pennies over $88. That was with $2.49 diesel. I'd forgotten to fill it up before coming home, then got called out to work. By the time I got it to the station, the needle was under the E.

There's some stuff in here that that explains some of the prices. CA has stricter fuel policies and refines their own to meet their set standards.

Don't get me started on that, Bryan!

Yes, Kalifornia has special additives.

They have reason(s). Lower emissions. Of course, higher cost. Exactly WHY it costs more is unknown. After all, this isn't a small state.

So, the politicians have figured this out, lower emissions, at a higher cost, and reduced gasoline mileage........(huh?)

That's right. They decide that we pay higher prices at the pump for a special blend that REDUCES our average mileage.

The higher the price, per gallon, the more sales tax, added to the state federal and other county taxes.

If I otherwise would use twenty gallons of gas per week, and get twenty miles per gallon, I could travel 400 miles, and produce X number of pollutants.

However, if I pay 30¢ per gallon MORE, I get to reduce my miles traveled to 380 and reduce the emissions to X minus 2%. However, I still have to buy TWENTY-ONE gallons, to travel the 400 miles, so, let me see? That would be: 21 minus 2%, (but) plus 5% for the extra gallon of gas I needed to get to work.

I polute the air with more gallons of gasoline, at substantially higher cost, and wind up buying more gas and poluting more with their special "air quality" California blend.

How does this square with conservation? How does it make any sense, at all? After all, the folks that designed this "solution" were not rocket scientists.

Well, my numbers are just off the top of my head, so don't quote me. I don't know anything, except the cost of this stuff is rediculous. I think the main motive is to get us into mass transportation, as in wonderful New York City. The fact that mass transit does not exist in southern California is beside the point. Maybe "ride sharing" will work?

The good news is, look for these "improvements" to come to your state, before too long.

Good hunting. LB

Loco, you need to shop around a little. $2.07 in Broomfield. Even less in Longmont.

Leonard, what gets me is the way they at least used to not give any emissions break on a better /per mileage basis. If I drive a 460 1 ton and you a Metro, we still have to pass with the same emissions. Well, that didn't come out right but you know what I mean? A Metro could be spewing raw fuel and still beat the Ford for emissions because of how ;itt;e it actually uses. Did they change that pitfall or is it still a crock?

LOL NASA

For those of you that don't know Colorado, NASA wants me to drive 30 - 40 miles North to get cheaper gas! LOL [Wink] [Big Grin]
(jest joshin' "T" squared)

Tim,
You're right man, I let it get pretty low. I had to sell off some coins to help out my cash flow this month. I have to come up with money for 3 payrolls this month. I didn't have but $3 left in my account when I hawked the coins. The good news is, I have all kinds of money in receivables, nothing in my pocket though. [Smile]

Charge my wheel chair for four hours, And it runs for three days. The down side the sucker cost $10,000 with no radio. Gun racks were extra also.

Now see, Loco? There's a little insight for you, if you could just recognize it. My point was, I could also pay 2.26 or 2.29 a gallon if I just went to the first station I came to. But I'm always on the lookout for competition. Especially when I get a mile or so away from the high priced off-ramp stations. Check out the barrio to the west of you. The avg. over there is 2.17 a gal. Pinching pennies isn't easy, you have to work at it. [Wink]

Tom, he wouldn't need to pinch his pennies if those deadbeat account receivables would pay up. Why should he carry those (big time) guys?

But, that's the way of the world, Danny. I bet Trump gets 2%/10 discounts, then pays in 90 days.....or later?

Good hunting. LB
