A fellow from the club and I did some calling to the camcorders yesterday. On the second stand we set up with Bob facing downwind toward the hill where I know coyotes spend the day, while I faced out toward the desert. We were elevated and both had great visibilty. A highway and a golfcourse were on the other side of the hills 2 miles away. Some homes were another 2-3 miles in each direction. I had been calling for awhile, into the third sound, jackrabbit distress, when I caught movement out on a bike or riding trail. A woman jogger, long blonde hair in a ponytail, wearing a little blue bikini. Snakes are out, human predators are out, and every bush and tree has thorns and spikes. What the hell was she thinking? I stayed on the jackrabbit and as she got closer it apparently frightened her and she ran back the way she came. I wish I had switched to puppy distress and coaxed her in. It would have made great video.

Incidently, Bob was filming a coyote on his side the entire time and never did see her.

An electronic call playing the sounds associated with a mall might have made the difference.

Must not have made it downwind of your wallet. The scent of cash seems to bring good results.

Jack, that means a lot of disqualifications.

Did I ever tell you guys about the time I went on a family hike in the area of Oak Creek Canyon? It was a mixed group of about twenty, adults and youngsters, and some of us had daypacks with a few sodas, etc. We had to wait out a little rain in a rock outcrop, which was neat. A bit later, we all sat on rocks along a creek in a good sized clearing, sipping drinks.

So, from out of the brush comes two people, not sure if the first person was a midget or eight feet tall(?) but the second was a nice looking well tanned woman, and she wasn't wearing anything from the waist up. Real perky hooters, too. And then, walking straight towards me, she passed, with a smile and a short greeting, within a foot or two, of my rock!

Believe me, all conversation stopped as they passed us and proceeded into the forest.

Then, my wife, sitting next to me chuckled, and said something about slow reactions and pictures; and at least three crestfallen men, in the group (including yours truly) suddenly realized that they had cameras around their necks! All of us had missed a great photo oppertunity. Several of us slow witted dummies exchanged looks, and shook our heads.

Might happen all the time, where you live, but I never seen anything like it, before or since....not even bikini joggers.

Good hunting. LB

Please don't tell me I'm the only one that laughed at that. [Eek!] [Big Grin] [Eek!] If so, alright, I'll go to my corner.

(You go, Leonard!)

The upper head has a brain, which requires blood flow to work.

Just be happy the wife didn't hit you up side of the noggin, just for being there.

You started it Leonrad!
Went with a couple buddies up to a swimming hole on Little Fall Creek. Picture'y looking little creek with drops and pools and overhanging alders and vine maples. We found a wide spot in the road that had been hardtopped for parking. When we got to the creek we headed downstream as upstream turned to rock walls right away. Lots of people there and most completely nude. Never happened on to that before. As we were walking down to the only open area a couple of cuties came across the creek towards us and as we passed each other one said to her friend "How do you like my south of France bathing suit?". Was all I could do to keep from replying "Looks like you should have gotten a bigger size." LOL Sure wouldn't have gotten me any points anyway!

Tim,

It was more entertaining for us wives to sit and watch the three men go numb as those perky cup cakes passed, not hooters. Should have been there, [Big Grin]

It was awsome when I just said " Hi, your on camera " At that point they were about 6' away from me and had no idea I was there....lol...Should of seen the look on there faces!...lol

How do ya'll mange to call up such friendly people. In the old days, When there were a lot of Fox hound men around here. I had all four tires shot out, Rear window busted out. Five of them pulled up one night and plan beat the hell out of me. That's not counting the number of bullets whizzing in my direction.

Guess I just don't have a likeable personality.

There ya go, Ronnie. The difference between living with rednecks and living with yuppies. Although I haven't seen your foxhound guys I think I'll stick with the blonde in the bikini.

Wait a minute----- I wanna make sure I know how to do this Rich.

Was she a Clairol 02 Sahara or Winsome Wheat?
And she came in from Upwind and didn't start circling, right?
Were you using Hai Karate mist or decoys?
Was it daytime or was she running high beams?
'Spose she was denned up in the area?
Was she all furred-up or rubbed?
Could you tell if it was territorial, curiosity or hunger that brought her in?
Did she keep looking over her shoulder?
Was that a short greeting howl instead of a lonesome howl?
Didn't give any warning barks, scratch the ground or leave scent trail did she?
Was she a big Eastern or the pretty Western size?
When she smiled, did you get a look at her teeth to tell how old she was?

Did you "woof" at her to get her to stop?
They Always Stop. They Always Do.

Order "Blonde Behavior" Today!!!

Understanding the coyote is not as important as knowing where they are.
I usually let the fur prime up before I leave 'em lay.

He hasn't answered the question, Jay. But, I bet he tries the same spot a little more frequently, from now on. And, Tyler. Why don't you just take a nap in the truck, eh?
