Was out doing some calling and came across the carcus of a deer from gun season. Not a bad find for a day out calling. The coyotes had eat everything but the bones!

I bet somebody went home last fall wishing they had learned how to track better!

Nice find!
I was skinning some animals down at my brothers taxidermy shop last night and a guy walked in carrying two 160"+ whitetails. He said he found them locked up dead. These two deer were beautiful with kickers and mass like crazy. I didn't really believe the story that he "found" them at first because bucks that size are rare as it is much less locked up together. After a little investigation I noticed water damage to one side of each antler, turns out they had locked up and died in a pond so the sun had bleached some of the antlers and mud had stained the other half. We're going to do a little stain job on them to try and match them back up but the fading makes it obvious that they spent a couple months on a pond bank. Some people have all the luck I guess.

I posted this picture a while back. It's the rack from one of my customers and it has a similar story. It was taken during firearms season and when they caped him out, they found a six inch long piece of carbon arrow through the back where it had passed just beneath the spine, but above the vitals. It had been broken off on both sides just inside the skin and the tissue around the arrow tract was just starting to become gangrenous. They discarded the meat, but of course, he kept this fine rack.

My customer went well out of his way to let folks know he'd shot this deer and the situation surrounding the arrow in hopes of finding who had shot it first, if only to let them know that the deer they'd wounded was no longer suffering, but as of yet, no one has stepped up. I'd bet whoever it is is still sobbing uncontrollably. I know I would be.

I'm with Leonard.
That Wedding is going to cost you and easy $25-30,000.
You might start thinking of a second job to help save for it.

Tim,
Thats a big problem here. This Buck was found in the strip mine fields. And they make drive after drive in there in gun season. When they drive like that they dont even go look. If they dont drop in there tracks they think they missed! Lots of big bucks go unfound! Its a shame to!
Lance,
I will haft to agree also with LB! Better start saving! I feel for you! But I got one that is 15 so looks like I will be first! I will let you know what to expect!
Jrb,
Did you get pic's of those big bucks?

Thanks, guys. She's the Madam Queen President in our house. My way or the highway, all the way. Had a "date" with her today when I went to school and choked down a school lunch with her. Had a great time.
Keekee-
Same thing here. Most firearms hunters are by no means the caliber of hunters you see with the guys holding a bow. God forbid they actually have to go find it after they shoot.
