The following, a little nostalgia, a mass mailing from my uncle who is 80, and lives in Reno. He was six years younger than my father, who died 13 years ago. Recounting events I had never heard before?

I believe that I can now safely say HAPPY NEW YEAR, as it is 12:35 local time.
Watched the fireworks from the roofs of the downtown casinos which lasted 23 minutes. Very nice...more impressive was Gods display of snow falling upon the crowd...NOW that is impressive, and wondrous, that is until it comes time to be shoveled..We currently have 16" in our yard and will improve upon that by morning.
Looking at the numbers 2005, can't help but to make me think back over the years that have gone bye.
Speaking of Christmas, I will relate a story that happened to myself and family of the time...My bother Leonard had bought a huge 6,000 lb. La Salle sedan made by Cadillac, vintage 1931..WE, the family were on the way to midnight mass on the outskirts of Minneapolis, and it was snowing a blizzard.
After a while, Len thought we were lost, but then we went through a couple of gates and figured it was the church...Close but not quite, it was a cemetery...And in trying to make a U turn one of the wheels went off the road...Pitch black, snowing, slippery roads, but he and us made it and ended up at the church in time for Mass... can't help but think of that, virtually every year.
Enough...My and Jerri's very best wishes for the coming (here) year...May all your thoughts be happy...Love to all... Dick and Jerri [ January 01, 2005, 09:52 AM: Message edited by: Leonard ]
