I am having a great deaal of difficulty wrapping my mind around a number like that. When the count was around 11,000 the first day, I went to bed trying to imagine 10 Barbie sized bodies side by side by 10 down - okay 100. Then ten more groups the same size - wow 1,000. 10 more of the big groups (I'm imagining dead bodies all around my room now LOL) 10,000.
I know it seems morbid but it was some sort of humanitarian attempt and empathy. I just can't relate but I do feel very sad. Wow, that's a lot of folks who've lost loved ones. I prayed today for comfort of any parents who did everthing in their power to save their children but were unable. WOW, I can't even imagine!!!

I struggled back when the towers fell to comprehend the lives lost. Such widespread devastation is difficult to fathom. I’m sure every prayer is appreciated.

This situation is difficult, hard to comprehend 120,000 dead bodies strung out around the globe. Then, I just saw something last night on TV where one third of the entire population of Europe was wiped out by (black)Plague. That must have been quite a number; they were burning bodies 24 hours a day. But, they say that only idiots are impressed by numbers.
I expected that the numbers would climb. Some valid reasons and I suspect, some dishonest reasons. The 9-11 casualties were thought to be 7,000 at first, now the figure is just under 3,000.
But, to entertain my cynical side for a minute. How much aid will a Government get if they claim that they have 4,000 deaths? If you give an estimate of 16,000, maybe you will get four times the dollars? Worth a try.
I remember Africa, the selling of UN and USA food to Somalia starvation victims. Disgusting behavior.
Everybody hates the U.S. but just how much financial aid is coming from other wealthy countries, like Japan and (of course) France? Italian aid? Swiss aid? Chinese aid? Saudi Aid?
But, anyway. A lot of poor people are suffering, and compassionate people want to help. Be thankful for what you have. Be generous with those that have lost everything...... because, it's the right thing to do.
Good hunting. LB

It could have been worse. Petra Nemcova got injured, she could have been killed. The last I heard her boyfriend was missing.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Jack.
Thank God, Britney Spears was spared, also.
I know she wasn't there, I'm just glad she wasn't hurt.
Thank God, Vanessa Williams wasn't hurt, etc.
(too bad Hillary and Rosie ODonnell had other plans...now, there's a pair to draw to)
Good hunting. LB

Rosie, crap, she's tougher than a bunch of Iron Workers. Anyone who wears a French looking hat is not good. Just like you said Leonard, just can't imagine the turmoil. I'm not religious, but may God help them through hell.
