Don't know if anyone is interested, this was taken from the local paper.
All nine wolves from a pack near McCall Idaho were killed on orders from the USFW. The wolves had killed more than 100 sheep grazing on state and federal land. According to the service the "Cook Pack" was responsible for killing 90 sheep in the same area last summer. Despite efforts by the rancher and his herders camping right with the sheep, the use of guard dogs, cracker shells, sirens, lights, live fire from guns, and help from biologists,LOL the wolves could not be stopped from attacking sheep.
Last year there was 118 sheep kills, 13 calves killed, and 6 guard dogs killed by wolves in Idaho.

Lonny,
That "live fire from guns" wasn't used correctly, or it would have been a lot more effective.
It's a shame they killed them all, I could have used a few to thin down the neighbors herd. Sooner or later, I'm going to get up and find my dog, sitting at my door holding a lamb. I'm not looking forward to that morning.

Interesting, Lonny. But, as with most other government projects, I bet they shot them from planes. No sense in letting a sport hunter bag the trophy of a lifetime, right?
Good hunting. LB

Your right about the live fire Tim.LOL Most likely it was some bi-gollygists trying to scare the wolves away. They might have had better luck if they would have given the owner and his herders a chance with some "live fire".
For your sheep problem, You might try the Province of Alberta, Thats where these gray wolves originally came from. I bet they would be glad to sell you a few.
I bet those Canadians are still laughing their asses off about when the USFW called them and asked if they could spare a few a wolves and than demanded to pay top dollar for them.
Yeah Leonard, I keep hoping someday we might get the chance to hunt wolves, I'm starting to doubt that will ever happen in the lower 48.
