Yesterday I loaded 200 45 ACP'S.Today I shot a few rounds and found my tom cat dead behind the target. The cat crawled in the shade behind the target. The 1st shot must have got him.

I reminded of a story here. 35 years ago, my brother and a neighbor kid were down by the creek hunting rabbits or whatever would appear that evening. My brother spotted a skunk waddling 40 yards away, stopping, then waddling a few yards. He drew a bead, and for some unknown reason, I lifted his rifle barrel and whispered for him to hold his shot.....something was odd with this skunk. Two more times, my brother drew down on the polecat, and two more times, I urged him to hold up and see why this skunk was acting peculiar?
While the tree of us stood watching this odd behavior, suddenly the skunk began to rise, turning into the head of the neighbor kids brother, who was laughing loudly thinking he had scared us.....still makes my hhair stand up to recall that evening, could have been very ugly.
It pays to always know what your shooting at, and what is near it or beyond it.

I have shot behind my house for 20 years without any problems. My target sets at the base of a large hill.Cats are not my favorite pet but he was a good mole catcher.

AZ,
That story is absolutely horrifing. My kids heard your story over and over alrady. They keep asking me to tell the story around to our friends. The moral is always the same, ........."Be sure of your target, and beyond".
That little story makes a great instructional tool!!!!
