Hey, no promises, but maybe Santa will see your post!
What do I want?
I'm thinking of a Calhoon, chambered in 19/223, or maybe chambered in 223Improved? To late to get it here in time for under the tree, but what the heck? These things take time.
What would you like to receive, useful in the pursuit of predators.....besides a large inheritance, or winning the Loto?
Good hunting. LB

I am thinking of a .20 cal based either on a .222 or .17 rem;
Need to shoot a few more with the .17 before the wife will release the funds to me....
Maybe a new e-caller, though I have a half dozen sitting at the house...

Norm, I think there is a three step program?
Even Vic has moved to 19 caliber. That's a revelation, all by itself.
I hate the thought of all the special gear, cleaning rods, powder funnels etc. for that subcaliber stuff.
Wives can be so unreasonable!
Loco, good for you! At least you are being practical...... unlike us dreamers.
Good hunting. LB

Leonard, this is why I may actually wait and see what Ruger's .204 announcement brings.
Vic is retired so he has time for the specialized rounds and reloading equipment.
Loco, What type of Ghillie suit? Hopefully you don't smoke or it will be a flame thrower..
Leonard, I hear you on the wives... mine came home the other day and told me she bought a Porche and then makes me sweat over a rifle barrel... mmmmm I had better go hunting and think about this!!! ![[Wink]](wink.gif)

OK you asked...
A shell holder for the stock of the rifle and the shotgun (so I always have some shells with the gun when I get there). A pair of Rocky Sneaker Boots. A camo boonie hat and a facemask. Some decent quiet waterproof camo rainwear (I got all the bright mountaineer stuff)... although there's a lot to be said for a good ol' green mil-surp poncho.
And that's about it as far as hunting stuff goes.
Thanks for askin'

I did ask.
And, I know a lot of you use such things. In fact, I hunted with Norm for a morning, earlier this month, and he had one.
I guess they look cool.
I don't want to put anybody on the spot, but for me, I can't stand any of that "gear" hanging on my rifle, or scattergun, for that matter. They do make pockets for such things, and they work well enough for me.
Hey, I hope you get one, Krusty! If I had one, I'd donate.
Good hunting. LB

I know what you mean, mine bought a house. What's up with that?
My needs are few. All I want is a new truck.

My Christmas present came today. I got a DPMS 20" bull barrel AR15. I got to shoot it a little tonight and with three different factory loads it stayed right around an inch. And that was with me shivering like a dog crapping tacks. It was cold at the bench this evening. Anyway I'll give it the test this weekend, and maybe get a coyote or two knocked down with it. I always buy my own Christmas present. That way I get what I want, and my wife says I am hard to buy for because she doesn't know anything about hunting stuff. Hell, as far as that goes, it's my money anyway.

Mine came in last week. Custom switch barrel rifle. Change barrels in less than one minute. Grouped 1.5" at 500 yards during break in. No tools needed.

Yeah, but what is it, Ronnie? Looks like a sleeved Remington action. What are the barrels chambered for? Who did it? What's the stock?

I tried asking for a couple of donor actions, but I was met with a glassy eyed stare from my wife.
Nothing much, I don't care what the stock or barrel looks like. I just want a M700 in a short action, ( maybe two of them if the price was right ) and a M70 in a magnum action.
I've got a couple of projects in mind for later next year.... ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Leonard. The stock is a H S Precision. The action is 700 Remington with a speed lock kit. The magazine is a Mc Millen. Barrel in the picture is a Shilen select match in .308. The barrel screws directly into the action. Then the carbon graphite hand guard over that. The barrel touches nothing, And has no recoil lug.
The next barrel will be a heavy 6.5 X 284.
The scope is a Horus Vision that is not on the market yet. I have two Horus scopes, And they sent me this one to test. [ December 04, 2003, 07:27 PM: Message edited by: varmit hunter ]

Norm You do not understand anything about being retired.
Until 3-4 years ago I worked 40-70 hours a week on the job. I still had time to hunt, build airplanes, water ski, coach a junior rifle team, etc.
In some ways there is less pressure (depends on the market for me) but the commitments tend to get worse.
I probably have less free time now than when I was working full time.

Q Waggoner, Your wishes might come true, if it would ever snow and the wind blow less than 40 mph. This late in the year it will probably be best to wait and get a 2004 license and start in January, then if conditions don't get right, you have next fall also on your non-resident license. As far as fat one's, if it's really fat we may have to have a foot race to the tree. LOL!!!!! I'm old, but I'm still pretty slow!!

Jack, you are correct, I don't know anything about retirement... I have 20+ years to work before thinking about it...
And you are right... I see my dad work more today than he ever did before he retired.

I don't want much. Just a half dozen things or so. I would like a .17rem in a Tikka or BDL, money for an AR-15 that I can build myself, a .338win mag. for those coyotes that just don't want to die , a Beretta Xtrema all dressed up in camo, a Kimber 1911 of some sort probably an Eclipse..well, a 44mag in Ruger or S&W, a .500 S&W, a nice scope to go on all the rifles... that's all I can think of for now. I think I need another job! LOL
