Just got the news a few minutes ago. Wiley's Wife Alta, called a friend of mine and told him yesterday, and he told me today. He had been in the hospital for quite a while. Thought Bruce should know this, so he can make changes to his voting board.

Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path of destruction. - Thomas Jefferson

Steve, sad news for sure. He was very sick when I interviewed him. I consider him to be the last of the truly "Greats". He lived his life to the fullest and he did it his way, and he was one of the nicest men you would ever want to sit down and make camp with. We will never see the likes of Wiley again.

Thanks again Steve for your post.

Steve, thanks for passing the word. I’ve been expecting it for quite sometime. I suppose a lot of the newer generation of houndmen don’t even know who Wiley was, but he set records and left an impression before the days of e-training collars, tracking collars, ATV’s, snowmobiles, ect, etc. Just a man on a horse with a good pack of hounds, but he got the job done!
