After putting up with record breaking high temps the last week, up in the 80's, maybe it is over?

Calling for lows in the single digits tonight, and highs under 60 for a while. I cut off and drained all my outside spigots but still have the irrigation running. A good solid freeze should make the grass go dormant, then I can drain the irrigation.

This desert irrigation stuff is as close to gambling as you can get, except there is no house taking a cut.

Jack, one can only hope it is over...

We were in to the 60's for the first time yesterday morning at 4am; it still pushed the 90's mid-day.

Hopefully cooler weather is on its way...

Have a great day.

Somebody mention "heatwave"? Around these parts, September can occasionally be a very warm month, but not often October.

Last week, we had some scorchers, 100+º with an overnight low of 72º, one night.

So, what happens? Well, the News' happy talk starts up with the warning about fire danger, etc. Of course, some sociopath takes the hint, and sets a fire. Best possible conditions, Santa Ana winds, dry brush and low humidity.

Now, we have soot and ashes everywhere, a few have already been burned out, 1700 evacuated, so far; and it looks as though it's heading this way.

The sun has been obscured by smoke all day, and the fires are actually beautiful, viewed at night.

But, that's California for you. Always some calamity. You name it, we have it, in the Land of the Fruits and the Nuts.

Good hunting. LB
