Thunderstorm flooded our piece of the desert this morning. Rain ended about 11:00 am. I went to the bank at 1:30 and a coyote was standing in the dirt road in front of our house. As it should be.

I can just imagine that, Rich. As Vic said on a different thread, you could almost film your hunts from close to the house...except it would have to be bloodless.
In my travels this past week, and it's not over yet, I have seen more than the average number of road kills. I judge that to be a good indicator, of sorts.
By the way, our urban coyotes are just as bold. I like seeing them around; cats don't, though.
Good hunting. LB
PS, sorry that you have to work so hard, to catch up.
now, where's my howler...I need the practice. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Rich, It started raining here 4 days ago. As I look out the window,,,,,it is still raining. Be a while before we'll be able to get out in the pastures. You can call in mosquitoes real easy though.

We must have got the same system that blew thru your area purple....but, way to little to late. What a miserable year we had for rain, our country looks like hell, very little grass, everything just looks stunted. The upshot is, usually, after a good rainy season, I have to wait till a heavy frost or snow so the grass gets bent over to allow good shots at coyotes. This year, there is no grass to bend over, my coyotes will be shot across barren flats......I'd rather have the grass.

This country hasn't looked this good since the mid 80"s. Pretty tough to see anything right now.
Tougher to get out and not get stuck.

Hey Purp~
why don't you describe your methods for extracating yourself from the gumbo? What attitude, what gear? Maybe you don't like to damage the roads? But, what if you're suddenly stuck?
In short, what's your plan?
(other comments welcome)
Good hunting. LB

If the 4x4 can't get it , then I have to call the rancher. He is not going to be happy. I stay out of the goop until it dries some. Certain areas can be accessed. Just have to use that grey matter.

Leonard,
We have our share of gumbo up here also. The proper sequence is something like this....
1. Rock it
if that fails...
2. Gun it
if that fails...
3. Jack it
if that fails...
4. Pull it
if that fails...
5. Dynamite and walk
