I am curious, are there any other "Cigar Affectionados" on here besides myself, Leonard, and BalaPlata?
Posted by DAA (Member # 11) on August 25, 2003, 08:38 PM:
I don't know that I'm an "aficionado", but I sure like a good cigar! Only allow myself to have them on weekends though.

Yep....one more......not afficianado....
I have a friend that gives me a few Cuban CAO's and Romeo & Julieta's each month......don't ask, don't tell.
The rest of the time, I just go to the Finck Cigar Co. here in San Antonio and pick up some of their Dominican seconds....

I enjoy the celebratory cigar once in a while. I am not to choosy on the maker, but I like cigars at least in the "Churchill" size range (or 40+ gauge).

Have you noticed that cigar smokers are just about the most generous people you will ever meet. They all like to share what they have.
I might be a minority here, but my staple is a #6 Partagas. A mild smoke, extremely well made, and you can finish one in less than half a day. I also like the Royal Jamaican #2 tubos.
I don't know how I ever got along without a humidor? I used to keep cigars in the fridge.
Affecionado? Well, let me tell ya. Years ago, I used to smoke HavaTampa's on stand, and chew on the wooden tip for an hour after it went out. They are particularly comforting on a long drive.
Never had a coyote object, that I recall? I don't think "Affectionados" know what a HavaTampa is?
Good hunting. LB

I definitely ain't an aficionado then
.
Partial to Padron's myself, especially the maduros. Churchill's, most of the time, but keep smaller ones handy for a nice change of pace. Often bring home different ones for variety too, including the Partega's and R&J's mentioned - I like 'em both.
Have not got a humidor yet. But I need to.

Leonard, I remember those "HavaTampas". They had a kinda sweet taste to them.
DAA, you need to get you a humidor. That will make all the difference in the world.
Leonard didn't say it and either did I, but we both buy our cigars here:
JR Cigars
I like the "La Finca "Joyas"" in a 6 x 50 or 48 and the "Casa Blanca" in the Maduro are excellent.

Not an Afectionados but usually have a pack of Backwoods with-in arms reach. Might puff on or partially smoke 3-5 per day. Once or twice a week I might stop at the local Tobacco Outlet and buy a good cigar. Mostly smoke them while sipping bourbon and watching the steaks grill.
Mostly look for cigars in the 5-7 dollar range. And seldom smoke the same name or brand two times in a row. If I do it's usually an Upmann 2000. They take the bite off the bourbon. Also buy an occasional box of Leon Jimenes Petite. Not sure but I think they are about a 38 ring size. A good quick cigar.

I paid twenty bucks for a Punch Cuban, once. Was that ever a mistake.
Yeah, Bruce has the tip of the day, as far as I'm concerned. J&R rocks!

My wife keeps throwing my JR mailers out when they come in the mail
Arturo Fuente and Ashton are some of my favs.
When I lived in Las Vegas, there was a little shop off the strip that had a guy making some hand rolls right there. Pretty good deal and a pretty damn good cigar!
Have fun!

Leonard, since I like the Maduro Wrap on a cigar, I wanted to try the "Double Maduro". I decided I would try the "Punch Double Maduro." So, this past Saturday, I went to my local Cigar Store and bought one. I am here to tell ya, I might as well been smoking "Creosote Rope."
That was the worst cigar I ever smoked in my life. I will stick to my "La Finca "Joyas"".

All them cigars do for me, is to make me want a good turkish blend cigarette.
I gave it all up 30 years ago. Still crave it and could go back in a minute.

Rooster is right about those Las Vegas Cigar Company cigars too. Damn good smokes. A customer of mine took me in there once, knows the owner, got me a box for free. Now I go back and buy them everytime I'm in town.

Hey Leonard,
Thanks for the big welcome...for the 2nd time
I was a "lurker" on the old site...and really havent had anything to contribute since I re-registered. With all the wealth of knowledge flying around here...it takes all I have to ingest it all!
Take care!

Magelk love cigars.
Magelk quit cigarettes.
Magelk scared cigars push him back to cigarettes.
I hate this thread cuz I'd love a cigar right now.

Magelk,
Same here. My cousin gave me a Cuban a few years ago. I was stoned on it a few minutes later.
The next morning I was bumming cigarettes. Took me another 6 months to get off of them again.
This Copenhagen is bad enough, I don't need to get close to anything that burns.

Hey, do Swisher(sp?) Sweets count?
Matt
Posted by bucksnort (Member # 202) on August 28, 2003, 08:49 PM:
Tim, you are not supposed to "enhale" these things, but just puff on them with a good glass of "Whizz."
Matt, "Swisher", what the hell is that???

Hey Rich Higgins, how come you never gave me a big "smootch" and bear hug for being a new member????
Posted by Jack Roberts (Member # 13) on August 28, 2003, 09:06 PM:
The line between "puffing" and "inhaling" is quite variable and indistinct. It's just a matter of degree. Nicotine is quite readily absorbed even through the external skin.
This topic is really making me remember how much I like nicotine. I could go back in a second.

Hey Rich, I am working on something you might be interested in. I will post the particulars in about 7-10 days, if not sooner.

Well, there I was, 4:00 this morning, standing outside in my "loin cloth", ready to go hunting with Rich - but no Rich. Since Danny and I are the last of the "Club Hunters", I selected two of my favorite "clubs." One is a 22-250 .oz model and the other is a .257 .oz model. I really like the 22-250 .oz job, as it has a very nice swing to it. I also have a club in the 30-06 .oz range, but I am getting to the point, where that is hard to swing. Now there is a wipper snapper in southern Arizona who claims the only club you need is a .17 oz model. Come to think of it, he claims to know everything about anything. Well, he doesn't know "road apples" about clubs. Danny and I tried. those lighter weight clubs and they just don't have enough "ummmphh" to them - bounce right off.
And speaking about "loin cloths", I don't know what is up with that. Either mine is shrinking or my butt is getting wider. I will have to check into that.

Hey bucksnort, all that loincloth talk has me thinking your a Ted Nugent fan. (or else real weird)
