Man! talk about pressure! Battle of the Internet Guru's. All in good fun, of course.
Rich is maneuvering me and my friend Tim Behle into a friendly hunt contest, with my my video debut set for next week. He will follow at a time yet to be determined.
My grandson will accompany me, but I think(?) Tim will invite one of his buddies, JH, VC, AZ, CR or BP and a bunch of airedales....I hope!
It would be a hollow victory if it did not include, at least one "deity".
I'm worried, out of shape, not sighted in, not sleeping well, need new glasses, my boots aren't broke in and I have a serious stomach problem.
Pray for me, please!
Good hunting. LB

Leonard,
I think our stomach problems can at least cancel each other out. Nearly anyone who has hunted with me more than a couple of times, has seen me get up and run off during the middle of a stand.
Sometimes I get a full two minutes of notice, and I'm thankful when I do.
Don't worry, I won't ask JH to join on this hunt. The two of you have been at odds long enough, I won't add fuel to the fire.
So far for the last three years, Vic and I keep talking about going calling together, but other than one afternoon trying to call a bear, we haven't done it. He's probably as protective of his unlocked gates as I am mine, and in this valley, I can't blame him.
But if this is to be some kind of Celebrity/guru hunt, I'd better find someone. Unless Rich just wants me to fill up the blooper section of his video ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

Tim, I could probably help you. I know where Rich hunts and we could hit those areas the night before.

a couple more alibi's:
1)He lives in Arizona, I don't; I'm a resident of the Land of the Fruits and the Nuts.......and don't forget, he's 2)younger and 3)taller; a formidable combination.
And, if Jay makes good on his threat, I don't stand a chance. Maybe this isn't such a good idea, I could be the laughing stock, ashamed to show my face in polite company.
Thanks a lot, Rich!
Good hunting. LB

don't forget; Rich will allow us to edit blunders and misses...should the need arise?
And, security will be airtight, nobody will know if I even manage to kill a coyote until it's in the can.
He told me that he has commitment from over thirty folks willing to let him film a hunt or consent to an interview. Other than me, they are all well known, and decidedly expert hunters.
What did I get myself into?
Good hunting. LB

Stop the sarcasm and false modesty Leonard!!!! You are probably saving one of your hot spots that hasen't seen a caller in years. The only thing you should be worried about is being killed in the stampede after you blow the call!! I would be disappointed if Rich doesn’t get at least 20 or so odd kills on tape.
If I kill one I will be a happy camper. I just hope he gets it on film. LOL
Good hunting uhhh I mean, “break a leg.”

Calcutta anyone? Kills are easy. Getting them ON tape after licking snake spit off the camera lens is the tricky part.

Quinton has been adding his two dollars worth (2 cents adjusted for inflation and value) for a long time and I haven't seen anything slip past him yet. I have a hunt scheduled with Quinton in Oct.I expect great footage with Q.(no pressure). JAY.....I have a filmed hunt scheduled with Jay. I honestly don't know what to expect. Jay slips in so many detours and U-turns that you are never sure that there IS a right track, much less if you are on it. I only know it will be entertaining. Put something good in front of me Jay, and I will lick snake spit off the lens to film it.

Q, you haven't been paying attention, everybody knows those days are over. I read about it on hunt talk. I'm nervous as a cat in a room full of rocking chairs. I only hope I can beat out Krusty for last place; it's a pride issue.... (just kidding, +K)
what sarcasm? LB

Sarcasm maybe not but false modesty yes. Hunt talk who? I guess I haven’t been paying attention. LOL
Rich is quite the motivator/manipulator isn’t he. LOL I can’t guarantee him a bunch of kills but I can promise him he will have a good time and see a lot of good country. He will get in on my first hunt of the year so if history repeats its self we should do all right.
LOL I heard about the snake spit incident you speak of Jay and that didn’t sound like fun. OUCH!! But seriously killing a coyote is one thing and getting the kill on film is a different deal. The first time I tried it I shot 6 coyotes one day and only got one kill half way on tape!! All you see is a little white dot disappear after the shot. You can’t even tell that it is a coyote.
Good hunting.

Hey, Q. Where you been? Concrete work? I'm working hard to ensure my success on video. All I have to do is figure out how to sneak that coyote out of the zoo and teach him to come in and get his treat without getting arrested first. I'm cheating anyway. I've got a buddy with coyote rich rangeland to the west of me that hasn't seen many callers in years. With my luck, that'll be because there aren't any out there. If it turns out I suck, my time will be interview alone. ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Leonard, You sounded so darn pitiful that I boxed up and sent you a care package with a few things that might help you in the hunt. There's a few antler calls built by a friend of mine from Boise and also a great video that was filmed in the Mcneal area by a guy named John. I am hopeful that if you watch the video and use the calls that you will be sucessful. Doug

.....yeah, I know.
But, good advice. I could certainly use a few pointers by that feller, John. Is he the one that espouses certain calibers, and has, in the past, employed a count down clock?
Antler calls? Heck yeah, can sure use all you got. Thanks a bunch!
Good hunting. LB

Leonard,
You will notice in the video, that his success is largely due to the number of Airedales he hunts with.
You'd better bring some with you, It's your only hope of out hunting me! ![[Big Grin]](biggrin.gif)

It's been a while since I watched that video, but it strikes me that ol' John functioned in the same capacity as Rich, producer and cameraman, while some other guy....Oh, hey maybe he did another one (video) I haven't seen? Hey! Are you in it?
Damn, we got us a ringer! Bet's off! Nearly had me, you rascal!

The real money is who's gonna watch the till while you're gone, Leonard. This board may be reworked when you get back, I think you'll get used to it though. We'll add a video forum. Might be a busy one though, you may need another moderator, someone who does this exclusively....Just donno who though...?

That's odd! My wife asked me the same thing, just last night. Maybe she saw your post, I don't know. But, I don't think it will all go to hell in such a short time? She has (most) all edit abilities, and perhaps she will supervise for a couple days?
You guys will just have to be on your best behavior; which is not so hard to do.

What's wrong with posts about the 17? I love mine, best coyote rifle ( for me ) I've ever found.
Sorry, but I'm no ringer. The closest I've ever had to being published is from Nistetter. I've seen a coyote I shot on a couple of different things of his.
I'm no coyote hunting god, Just a displaced Hoosier redneck who loves to call and shoot coyotes.
Old women and children could probably out hunt me, don't tell me you want to back out on your chance of a free dinner! Did I mention I've gone out calling every weekend this month and only seen one coyote?

I only hope I can beat out Krusty for last place;
I just got home from three days and one night of pretty hard hunting...
Coyote count, 0 seen, 0 shot...
I got a grasp on last place that nobody can shake loose!
Hey LB... I love a good joke, even if I am it.
