Its hard enough to sit still when nothings bothering you but when theres a flock of mosquitos buzzing in your ear its really tough.Espically when theres the possibility of that one with west nile virus.Non of the repelants seem to work.My wife brought home one from some cosmetic saleswoman that actually seems to attract them.What do you guys use or do to cope with these pesky flying varmints?

Stay out in the desert, far from any water sources. I have tried every repellent imaginable, even the wierdest, none worked at all. Some seemed to be attractants, but not a single one repelled any mosquitoes from me.
If I could just attract female humans like I do female mosquitoes??

Ben's 100 Max Formula
95% N,N-diethyl-m-toluamide
Works for just about everthing. It says up to 10 hours, but in the back woods of Alaska where the squitoes are to thick to see through I apply it about every three hours. Be careful around your face. It will make your lips go numb.
For 1.25oz'z it cost about $5.

Eat lots of vitamin B-12. The skeeters will usually leave you alone. Don't eat bananas, the potassium tends to attract the bugs.

We were out this past weekend. Beatty area.
Sure, there's no misquitoes there, but they have those damned flies that buzz incessantly in your ear.
Doing the "Wave" while on stand is sure to get you noticed.
I had some repellent in my shaving kit and sprayed it, head and shoulders on everybody.
It worked like magic.
Called "Repel 100" (DEET 95%)

Welcome AK-Yoter.I would slap you with a fresh halibut but that wouldnt work here.Ive never seen Bens,but Ive never looked before either.Ill keep my eyes open.What Leonard said about doing the wave on stand was my main concern.If I used some type of complete headnet Im afraid it would obscure my vision while trying to use a scope.My hats off to Mr Hathcock again.The decipline that guy had is remarkable.Doing the wave in the jungle,talk about blowing a stand.

Just got back from a stand a while ago and yikes! those mosquitos really ARE bad! So you guys are saying like Repel and such things as Deep Woods Off doesn't work? That's a drag as I was going to get some tomorrow haha. Most of those things have a smell though don't they? Also just wanted to say I made my longest shot ever today, a brisk 319 yards (no wind thank God) I wish I had a digi cam to prove it though ![[Frown]](frown.gif)

Matt, I think both of those products are worthwhile. And, if they have a fragrance, it's a small price to pay. Mosquitoes can drive you absolutely nutts. Out here, they are extremely concentrated around water tanks and streams. Calling at dusk is the greatest risk. Other places, they may be everywhere, but here, I can usually limit my exposure by moving my location.
I recently had a spray bottle of Deep Woods OFF, but the contents leaked out. If it has to be upright all the time, that's not likely? Could have been a freak accident, but the Repell was in the same kit, the bottle is less high tech, but the contents were there when I needed it.

Brand names are probably not all that important. The higher the DEET content, the better it works.

Thanks Leonard, I was surprised when I stepped it off. I walked about halfway and looked back to where I was and thought 'man, that was a longer shot than I thought!'
Rich, deet is just for tick repellant if I'm not mistaken, which I could be haha. But we have a HUGE population of ticks this year. Those lil buggers are everywhere! Thanks
