Posted this at PM but thought I'd post it here too,the more opinions I have, the better. Need the yote question in the first paragraph answered, the rest is just general BS caue I like to yack about hunting! [Big Grin]

Back early today, turkey season ends at 12 noon.Had planned on trying to coyote hunt later, but the heat is unbelievable.I doubt the yotes will move much in this heat ? What say you experienced yote hunters, will they move during this time of breeding,in this heat [80]or will they lay in the shade and take it easy ?

Knats and skeeters already out,the woods are dry as a bone. It'd be great if the temp would drop about 10 degrees and it would rain some.

Turkey hunted private land bordering a state park this AM,didn't hear a thing, even though two mornings ago a buddy heard two gobblers.Plenty of fresh sign, just no birds,we hunted hard right up until 12.
Back again in the early AM.

West Virginia is a really hard state to hunt in some respects, the DNR makes it really difficult because of the way they set the seasons. Some of the hens have been on the nest 2 weeks now, most birds aren't gobbling.

Sooner or later we'll run into a couple of high steppin birds,we always do. Or maybe I'll call in a yote, all I want is something legal to shoot at. [Big Grin] [Wink]

Got my new Howler from Slydog today,I must say this man is talented, his calls are a work of art in both sound and looks.I am tickled plumb to death with all 4 calls. Can't wait to use them this fall,I know where there's a ton of bobcats and several yotes too!

You never know. Typically, things slow down late morning, but if you are dilligent, you will get a few animals in the heat of the day and at straight up twelve noon.

Good hunting. LB

So,the yotes will still move a bit in the heat, even when denned up for breeding ?
