There is no Winter in Northern Nevada this year. It was 65 yesterday and up in the 50s almost every day. There is no snow on the ground, even at the 7000' level. It rained, actual liquid rain 4 times in January. For comparison, last year the ground was snow covered for over 5 months at the 5000' level. The temperature very rarely got to 30 degrees. The East Coast is having one of the coldest Winters ever and we are having one of the warmest.
It sure beats shoveling snow though!!

Its been the warmest winter I can remember since moving to Wyoming! Usually the snow we get here gets worn out by the wind, not this year. what little bit weve got melted. the last couple weeks of jan. very warm, a few days right around fifty deg. the elevation in this area is close to seven thousand feet. Ah but there's fresh snow on the ground now, and the temp has dropped. maybe winter has come.

Winter arrived last night for us. This morning we had about 4-6 inches and I even dressed up the three big critters and took them for sled rides around the back yard!!!

No winter is a good winter. I think we've had a low of 28deg. once. Just rain in Western OR., you know that drizzly stuff that the weatherman can't measure but you're soaked if you are out for more than five minutes.
We're way below average so they are calling it a drought. Running water in every gully and canyon and it's a drought. These Oregonians don't have a clue about "smelling" rain when the nearest cloud is miles away. I've run for higher ground more than once when I was a kid in Central AZ.. Now I just put on waders and go steelhead fishing.
