Well I would like to say hello to everyone. I'm new to the computer thing but I have been hunting coyotes for over 30 years. I have'nt written any books or made any videos and I will never try to imply that I know it all. I think that when you quit learning they put 6' of dirt in your face and you start pushing up weeds or at least I will..LOL
Yes I'm the guy that is hunting yotes with a 17HMR, Slydog2020, that the coyotesgods have banned because I would not back down from John Henry. I would like to thank you Leonard, I've been reading your threads and you have been more than fair with yur comments about this mess. Man did I step in it or what. That whole mess realy charged me up. just in case your wondering, my tally is 20 coyotes and 12 badger with 38 shots fired and no lost critters since the one that I tracked down at first. I will say this, if you are going to shoot this little gun for yotes you better know your distance and shot placement. there is no room for error. I have my 20 back and that tally was just to prove a point. Now I'm back behind my 20 and lovein it.

Anyway gentelmen I enjoy reading your views and articles and I think that there is a world of knolage here for all of us. sorry about my spellin it ain't the best but I try.

I will ansere to just about anything
Most call me Sly or Dic
Good huntin to ya

Well, imagine that! You're the same guy that stepped in it, over on the blackboard? I went back, expecting to see more slicing and dicing, but the thread got flushed.

I don't know how you found your way over here, but we're glad to have you on board. It is considered a badge of honor, in some circles, to be banned by JH.

Good hunting. LB

TNT,

Are you the guy that did ADC work in Colorado and some other state? If you are, I too am very happy to see you here. It seemed to me that you were very polite and very knowledgable. OOOPS, I may be thinking of the guy that said the 3-letter "D"-word that ends with "g". Was that you?

If not, well, that's okay, I admire you too!!!!! [Wink]

Welcome!

Yes I'm the guy that said the dog word and brought the rath of JH down on me. I never won no spellin beas back home, I was busy huntin. Like I told JH, I don't think that big words make big men. We are a band of hunters,Why use $2.00 words on us, it don't make you a better hunter either. I'm a simple man who likes to hunt songDOGS, coyotes, prairie wolves or what ever you want to call them. I been callin them Yotes or Dogs all my life and that was the first time I ever had to apoligise for it. Still don't sit well with me.
Just for the reccord: I know Todd Kindler and Todd and I talked after JH said that Todd had said that the 17HMR was a rat gun, and that is B.S. Todd was very instramental in the develoupment of the 17HMR and what Todd said was" the 17HMR is a varment and close range predator cartridge and you have to know your guns ability as well as yours.......... By the way Todd is who helped me into the 20 cal stuff. If you have never shot the 20 you should. Its a wonderful caliber that stops a yote dead in his tracks clear out to 500 if you can shoot it. My Tact20 is sighted in, 1" high at 100 and is not quite 1" low at 300, I don't know about you but I rarely shoot at a coyote at more than 200 yards and always off a rest of some sort.
Before I bent the barrel on my 20 I had shot 16 shots at coyotes at various distances, from 25 yards to 230 yards and had 16 dead yotes to show for it. Now I'm not saying I'm not going to miss but even I was impressed with that little gun.
Before the 20 I had been shooting a Rem 40x in 17 rem and loved it to death, now its a 20 t-n-t and I still love it to death I just trust it more. Thats just me though, everyone likes something differant and thats good.
By the way,,, I do have an opinyon but that don't make me right and I'm here to learn also. I do wish I could spell better, kinda feel stupid sometimes but if you can look past my short commings I think you'll find that I'm ok and I like to think I make a good hand.
If ever you are in my neck of the woods and want to chase them ol' songdogs just drop me a e-mail and we'll give'em hell. I live to hunt and love to meet new folks and try new things. well I have talked into the wee hours and am going after dogs in the morning so for now I bid you all a good day and a hot hunt.

Slydog
P.S. Yes I worked ADC in Neb and Colo and was the 1st private wildlife control tech in Idaho.

I don't know about the rest of these guys, and speak only for myself, but if I have to choose between your experience/ knowledge and your spelling skills, I vote for good ol' fashioned rubber-meets-the-road know-how any old day. As long as it's close enough for me to figure out what you're saying, I couldn't care less how you spell. Welcome to the board and looking forward to hearing your thoughts and opinions. Hope you had a good hunt today.

Good to have you Slydog.

I happened upon your post at the other place, you didn't deserve treatment like that. Don't worry about it though. You aren't the first person to be banned over there and most likely not the last either.

Take care and good hunting.

Hi Slydog and welcome. Looking forward to some good and enlightening conversations with you. As to the spelling thing, one of the smartest men I've ever known has a spelling handicap and feels at home here. He, too, was banned from the blackboard and was made to feel unwelcome at P.M. because of critism of his and other's spelling. Absolutely their loss.

Thank you all for the understanding and the support and I do feel like I belong here, kinda like being in my DSR or dead chit room as my wife calls it. Its the only room in the house that I relax in.

much thanks

Hey 20T-N-T, how ya doing?

About spelling, about 25 years ago I got a wild hair to design a cartridge. I had a .44 Mag. Marlin and a .444 Marlin. The discrepancy between vel. and powder charge bothered me. I figured that a case about 1/4" longer than the .44 Mag. would match the .444 and use far less powder. I wrote to a fella at Guns and Ammo magazine to get his slant on my wonderful idea.

He wrote back(I still have the signed letter) and informed me of the error of my ways concerning a .44 cal carbine of such dimensions. In the letter he had spelled the word carbine three different ways, all incorrectly. It immediately popped into my head that I was talking to a functional illiterate. What the heck, I can write better than that.

Oh, his name was Elmer Keith. He invented the .44 Magnum and was called the Dean of American Gun Writers. I suppose having the experience and being able to tell a story might be worth something. Ya think?

Bud

Look at this. I'm editing to correct spelling. I hate that.

I am here to tell all of you that I am the best speller here. In my last thread about the pecking order. I can spell so well that the spelling check in the computer could not even correct my error. After about ten minutes I made a lond distance call to my wife. The Hooked On Phonices books that I got for christmas, well long story short, I can can't spell beak. It didn't look right just now so I looked it up in old webster'(on the front cover). But I have a good strong back.

Maineiac, my vote is for "preffial" as the most creative. Peripheral vision being more common, and harder to spell. [Smile]

Good story, might be a first? Everybody asks questions about different animals and others that have responded to a call. I don't remember anyone claiming to have called a moose, before?

Good hunting. LB

I think it was Thomas Jefferson who said, "I pity a man that can spell a word only one way". (Or something close to that)

I hope you don't mind and I don't even know if it's allowed to be talked about, but what exactly is "blackboard" or "coyotesgods" and why did 20tnt get kicked off of it? [Smile] I heard once that curiosity killed the cat. haha. Anyways, it's nice that there are these predator chatrooms! Sure is a fun sport. _v101
