Thumbing thru the latest National Geographic & found an article on big cats. Couple of interesting tid-bits from the fold out poster for your consideration regarding puma / cougar;
"It's returning to former lands in the U.S. midwest but overall population is thought to be falling." and " Estimated wild population 30,000 U.S. only.

WTF????
I thought that El Bee had 30,000 cougars in Calif. alone??? Sounds like another case of those who know so much more than the little people are pulling numbers out of their asses again.

Yup, my figures are just as reliable as those, "thoght to be declining" statements. It's all bullshit because nobody knows. We know more about Alien populations, in neighboring galaxies, than being able to count lions. There is no reliable method of surveying lion populations, yet people continue to estimate without fear of reprisal. BS

Prove me wrong...

Where do they and how do they come up with these figures? They can't even count humans correctly, let alone animals.

These people get too much slack with their authoritative statements. As Tom said, prove me wrong is where it's at. It's like they say, 85% of statistics are made up, on the spot.

Lion populations are very much increasing, by 16% per year, by my calculations. At that rate, Fred will be hunting lions on Long Island in another 5.41 years.

But, just by the simple fact that California has had a moratorium for over thirty years, and the depredation permits keep going up tells me everything I need to know about protecting them. It's unwarranted and it's there strictly to appease the bunnyhuggers. They would rather have lions eat people jogging in the woods than have any sport hunting for these magnificent animals.

They have never proved anything. They just make the claim that lions are in decline and it's left to somebody else to disprove it.....which is very hard to do. It's completely political rather than intelligent game management.

By gawd, Leonard, I wasn't watching Nat Geo, and this has nothing to do with cats - big or small - but I was watching something on TV yesterday morning about elephants while waiting to take my daughter to school and I learned something, too. Apparently, a cow elephant's teats are located over her sternum and pectoral muscles, just like women, rather than between their hindlegs. I have no idea what this has to do with this thread, and it doesn't piss me off at all, but I just thought that was pretty cool to notice. Why, again, I have no friggin' idea but still thought I'd share.

Did you know this? Google "nursing elephant pictures" and you'll see that once again, I am right. Way to go Mark! LOL

On a related note, I, for one, wish to go on the record as saying that I am really glad that human women don't have their teats down on the front of their stomachs. Otherwise, those big fat women you see with the two or three rolls beneath the waistline of those spandex pants would be what we consider to be "hotties", not "notties".

Just sayin'.....

But, always the one to help whenever I can, you look, and you decide...

This?

Or, this?

Which would you rather see out your back window standing by your pool?

That is nearly an unanswerable question but... Lawdy, I'd take the two Dumbos over the four jumbos any day.

Wow, its amazing what a distorted view of things you can get. But after you look at the bottom picture for long enough,,,,,that one on the right doesn't look half bad. [Cool] [Wink]

I kind of agree with you but I'd never have said it.

Good hunting. LB

I don't know if I would say she doesn't look half bad but technically she is only HALF AS bad.

Look what you've done Lance.
