Mountain Lion is one animal that I have not taken while calling I have called them but not shot one.I need one for master caller status in A.P.C. as I have called and killed all other species on the predator list Coyote ,Fox ,Bobcat and Bear. was curious if anyone else is going to target them specifically this year ? I want to go out and set up for lion not just call one by chance.Look for fresh sign ,in the right terrain and get to callin. I havent done it as yet because it takes time from chasin coyotes but I think this is the year.

My problem with one hour stands is I start to daydream, my mind is on anything but the subject at stand.
Good luck with your goal. Hope you get one!

Yep, you should do well, Paul. You know what you are doing and how to look for lion sign. Finding one fresh in a decent place to call is the luck part and it sounds like you have enough of them in your area to get onto one. Good luck!
I'm going to ammend my post without deleting anything. Knowing high probability places to look for a fresh lion track isn't luck any more than setting up stands that are specific for them. They are so widely scattered and usually on the move so that locating one within earshot has some luck factor, but you know enough to whittle that down into much higher probability.
If a lion territory is 500 sq. miles and a call could cover one square mile, a random calling stand has a one in 500 chance of a lion even hearing it. Fortunately, humans with a brain can improve those odds. My son called three in one week, and if memory is correct, I've had 3 lions to my last 13 stands. Pick up any bit of info Steve Craig will share, and Rainshadow has some excellent sounds and rapidly growing experience as well. [ August 16, 2011, 07:49 AM: Message edited by: Okanagan ]
