The following link takes you to the T&PC blog where they feature the results of what a cougar can do to a car. According to the text with the pics, this happened during the night and the owners think the lion might have been after their cat which was either beneath the car or in the engine compartment. What a mess.

That must make for an interesting insurance report;

"So, Mr. Dufus, you say that your car was eaten by a CAT???" [Eek!]

I would have never dreamed a lion would be that determined. WOW!!!

Edit:

I wonder if the guy who commented would think this is a big dog track too? -

I think the guy has a point. The chewing on the plastic sure looks like dog to me and those paw tracks on the windshield don't look right, either?

I'm not an expert. Where's Steve when you need him?

My reasoning...the windshield is slanted and slick. Not gonna be able to get up it or put any weight on the feet that are on it, hence all the sliding tracks. The one good print doesn't look long enough to be that wide and canine and there's too much space between the toes.

Now that I've had a while to ponder, I wonder if it may have been more than one? There really looks to be a lot of work involved. Without the tracks, I would have thought bear.

This is supposed to be a gray wolf track (pretty big dog). See what I mean?

I saw that posted elsewhere. I'd say the work and tracks of a DOG.

Suppose it might have been the big white canine behind the fence in the third pic?

OK, OK. Upon further review (zoomed a lot), I relent. Guess I'd never make it as a forensics investigator.

Jimanez, this is why it takes balls to swim upstream against majority opinion. Stick to your guns, man! Without photographic proof, you can claim an alien did all that damage and who's to call bullshit?

What I want to know, other than vivid imagination, is exactly WHY this article presupposes that a lion did the damage? The teeth marks alone would indicate bear or dog with strong jaws. Cats have very delicate teeth and they don't crack bones when eating, like canine. There was no reason to jump up and conclude that a lion was involved, in my opinion. The tracks and the chewing says "dog" to me, and I am wondering why somebody thought lion, in the first place. (I hate the word, cougar, never use it)

Probably was the car owners dog and he needed it to be a random act out of his control for insurance purposes, hence the lion story!

I like the way you think, Paul.

I would never have come up with that kind of reasoning, being cursed with a certain amount of honesty. You almost rival my ex daughter-in-law for thinking on her feet. And, the dishonesty, goes without saying.

edit: and you say I've got balls!

edit: what if there are two other vehicles in the yard that are chewed on? I bet you can come up with a good one, like it was a whole pack of lions, escaped from the circus? Those are actually bullet holes, officer. Freak hail storm, meteor shower! Factory defect? My son, the idiot, was swatting flies with an icepick.

Clearly, this was collateral damage caused by a firefight between aliens escaping from Area 51 and the Air Force. What better cover story than cute animals interacting with each other????

My balls are still in tact and tiger blood is still coursing through my veins. I'll be there for the next controversy that interests me. I'm also not too big to say I was wr, wr, wrrrr, wr wr wr.....well, you know.

Not making excuses, but the contents of the blue velvet bag escaped last night and mysteriously disappeared. [Cool]

Hard to say without seeing a true track in the dirt/mud.
Cant go by those on the glass.
but I dont see any toenails.
I have seen the big cats beat a cage trap around with a sweet bobcat or grey fox morsel inside and tear the trap completely apart like it was nothing.
So they can be pretty tough on things if they want something.
Your guess is as good as mine.

Thank you, 3toes, but don't hog all the credit. Look above and you will see where the #4 poster clearly "opines" that he suspects a dog(s).

So, we agree about most things, except turrets.
