Our Bobcat season starts the 15th so I'm spending a couple days building snares, boiling traps, and putting equipment together. I haven't set for a bobcat in years, but prices were enough last year and hopefully will be again this year, that I am putting out some equipment. I will spend some time and see how it goes. I am going to put up coyotes this year also. I hadn't skinned many coyotes for a few years either, just the absolute best ones, but they are really good here this year and my skinning knife has been getting a little work. Any other cat trappers?

From what I'm hearing, it will definitely be worth the time and effort.
Good luck and good hunting. LB

Cal, Our 'cat season opened this past Wednesday at high noon, hunting and trapping both. But, our 'cats don't prime up until close to Christmas so I stay off of them until then. Of course, if I happened to call one in the interrim, I woudn't hesitate to whack it since it may not come my way again. if it isn't prime enough for the fur market, I can always make it available for taxidermy.
Good luck in your rekindled trapline.

Lion Ho I'm not sure what they will bring this year. I live in northern Wyoming so we get some really good big furred up cats and last year they averaged over 300 for the guys that put them up right. But whether or not they will do it again is hard to say. Good pale coyotes were bringing around 40 last year put up, and I hope they do that good again.

Wow, those numbers are as good as what we were getting, back in the seventies.
Be sure to place those seventeen caliber bullets with surgical precision, Buckaroos!
Good hunting. LB

Leonard, Sorry, No 17 here. But I did order a AR15 in a .223 for a "fur" rifle. First trap check was good. 2 coyotes snared and two cats trapped. A big 30 or so lb female and a small 20 or so lb female. The coyotes were accidentals caught in cat sets, but skinned they will be.

Impressive, Cal.
A 30 pound female is as big as I've ever seen, anywhere. You are off to a good start.
Keep it up!
Good hunting. LB

Leonard, When I seen this cat in the trap I would have swore or bet any amount of money that it was a big tom. It is the biggest female I have seen and I will post a pic when I get my disk back from the photo place. Rob, I am using 1/16" in crucible garroting cable with a 225 lb breakaway and a choke spring with cam locks. I build my own but they are just like O'Gormans. I am using a real small pole with a wire support and tying off to a disposable stake. I'm just setting for cats but it sure lays out a coyote fast.

Cal, the kill poles did not work for me, I went back to my old style of support. With the choke spring I think there is not much need for the heavy pole. I had one coyote still alive so far with the choke spring. All cats are dead with the spring so far. How many cats so far? T.20
