Man thats a good question! I sure could use some info here as well. Cats averaged $270 on the UT sale this past winter, I've had a fair amount of success using High Pitched Raspy type sounds, Yellowhammer Woodpecker as well, Has anybody out there used a bobcat distress tape? Or perhaps a female bobcat in heat distress? Thanks!

No cats for nonres, in Nevada. We need to do something about that. [Frown]

But, I never have had a problem attracting cats with a gravelly jackrabbit, all things being equal. Yellowhammer can be effective. Red bird, or cardinal has better cadence.

When hunting at night, my secret weapon, for a cat that hangs up; is rodent (rat). Second best is kitten distress. Changing sound doesn't bother them much.

Gray fox pup distress is a dynamite sound for coyote, but I am not sure if it would eagarly attract cats in mixed gray fox/bobcat areas? Might be worth a shot?

There are a lot of options, that's for sure. Who has a favorite?

Man you got that right Leonard! Over the years i've had to pass on quite a few Nevada cats, but i figure my guns and truck are worth more than a few cats, it is still very difficult to just sit there and watch those big-ol Toms slink away. With the cat market like it is right now and Hopefully into next season, I plan on getting me an Idaho license next season, I will definitely try out the sounds you mentioned, by the way Leonard , do you use any Lightforce products? Thanks again!

Leonard, you guys need to get to Texas. See a cat......take him!!!!!!!! I always thought that the higher pitched sounds like that from a "tweety" worked best on cats. Boy did they prove me wrong. So far I've called in more with a lower pitched gravely rabbit tune than with the higher pitch bird squawls. I alternate between the Tally Ho and the Tweety splitting the call sets. Next season may be just the opposite. I figure if a cat is in the area he WILL come.

Ah yes, Texas.

Slight problem, compared to a state like Nevada, with (like) 80% public land. I have hunted Texas, and it's good, but access is very difficult for the out-of-stater. Compared to other western states, they don't throw out the welcome mat. But, if I could go where I wanted, Texas has some good predator hunting, no doubt about it.

We have come out with a new CD. It is nine kittens wining at one time. Talk about bring the cats.

We hope to have it on tape very soon.

It is almost unfair to use this thing, But I havent let that stop me.

I missed this question, sorry about that!

Yes, I have a Lightforce hunting light I bought from Gerald Stewart, same thing he uses. I modified it in several ways, but it's a good one for certain conditions. I could talk hunting lights for a couple hours, non-stop.

Oh MAN Leonard!
I like the sound of that! I own and use everything Lightforce sells other than their HID Lights, I have their SL240 Blitz, the Striker and the Lance Scopelights i also have made modifications to them for better, easier calibration, I run 16 Volts through my Striker, I use it mostly on my 22-284. I employ my 22-284 strictly at night due to its Lazer type trajectory,makes range estimation much less critical which is a tremendous aid when nitehunting. I usually sweep the unity roof mounts (100 watt lamps) to crack eyes then depending on mood of predator either go to the Striker or the Blitz for the kill light. I made a bunch of Scopelites out of 4" reflectors using 12-16 volt PR type Halogen Bulbs, We use em to shoot pigeons underneath old bridges at nite with our pellet guns, I have 5 Ohm reostats mounted on them to vary the intensity of the scopelite, my hell that is fun. I have been playing with Scopelites and other High Output lights now for about 25 years, I would really like to hear of your experience with artificial light, sounds like i can pick up some valuable info. let er rip Leonard! and Thanks!
