I have a $500 pair of Pentax binocs I've had for about five years now. For less than 300 yard stuff they beat the heck out of the cheaper binocs.

I could see no difference in the Swarvo and Leica at those ranges. However, I tried Swarvos on a sheep hunt and noticed finer details on the long ranges (1/2 to a mile away)!

For predators, deer & elk hunting, I think paying a grand for a set of binocs is ridiculous. I justified $500 for sheep hunting because you do a lot of long range spotting and stalking. You spend hours a day with your eyes behind glass and you get less of a brain ache with good glass.

I realize I'm talking about binos and not spotting scopes, so I could be off base with an opinion. I think I'm apples to apples; I'm just comparing Grannie Smiths to Red Delicious. [Wink]

LOL I got to thinking about it more. Perhaps saying that, to buy the big dollar ones is "ridiculous", was only envy speaking. If I had an extra grand laying around, the very first thing I'd do would be to buy 10x52 Swarvoskis (sp?) that is if they make such a critter.

Let us know if you make the purchase so we can all be jealous!!!! [Smile]
