how do the conquest compare to the diavari zeiss scopes. Can't convince myself the conquest are anything but a cheapened up, Americanized product.

I have only one, the 4.5X14X44stainless model.
I'd say your description is accurate:
"Can't convince myself the conquest are anything but a cheapened up, Americanized product."
On the other hand, in a one inch tube, and for the price, I think it compares favorably with top tier American brands. I don't think they ever said "hey, this is just as good as our Diavari".
It has some nice features and optically, I don't see how it could be improved? If you can find a deal on one, I would certainly consider it.
