I read about this at DAA's site RMVH.com,> good stuff.
My most powerful scope is a 5.5x16.5 nikon monarch,there is no way i can see bullet holes at 300 yds..
Do you guys have a dedicated scope for this type shooting?I'm thinking of getting an 8x32 burris or bushnell 4200 for load developement.I really don't want one because i need another 4.5x 14 zeiss conquest.
What would be a good set-up for this work,i dont want to spring for a high dollar spotting scope.
Can i buy or make a target to get me by with the 16.5x nikon?ME

Depends on the size holes you are punching, maybe .30 cal. could be seen? They sell those targets that have a black bullseye, but show a large ring of bright yelloe at all bullet inpacts. That might be useful for you?
Otherwise, you might have to walk out there and mark them holes? That's what I do, and I have a 60X spotting scope.

My two LR scopes are both Leopold's. One is 6.5-20 the other 8.5-25
I can see .22 holes at 300 yards with both. One big help would be to make you own targets with white paper and a black marker. Just make an + and fire away.
Using a simple + on a white background makes it easier to both, align the crosshairs and see the bullet holes.

I've seen those type targets Leonard and thought the all black would hinder seeing the crosshair.I think i'll give the white paper a whirl ,if i can't see >break out the old tennis shoes.10-12 shots should get me around a 3.5 mile walk!!!ME

I like to use Christmas wrapping paper. Just turn it over and make targets on the back. You can usually find it cheap in a discount bin.
I can put 9 + marks on the paper and take 9 three shot groups. Just remember to let the barrel cool between groups. Each group has just a slightly different powder charge. When I find a sweet range, I space my loads by .2 grain ( Instead of the .5 grain I start with )
Sometimes I want to shoot a certain bullet and a specific speed. Once I find the charge that shoots at the speed I want, I start with the bullets just into the lands and slowly work back into the brass until I find the depth that shoots the best.

I have used the big black "Shoot n See" targets, I like the 6" round ones, I stick em right on top of the 6" dot (I been using 100 yd military targets).
They come with little stickers to cover your shots, so they work exceptionally well for sighting in.
The target dots are black, but not the same black as the crosshairs, sort of a flat black.
I recently sighted in a scoped .243 Rossi, for a friend's son, using them and they worked GREAT
They do make a smaller dot (2" I think), which work really well for higher powered scopes.
