I have a gun that would sure look good with a Nikon Titanium, (whatever it is), 4½X15?
Besides my color coordination, I need some opinion on servicability. Dual purpose, rockchuck and predators, moderate to long range. Brightness, ruggedness, optical resolution, and anything else that seems noteworthy. Best price?

Can't help you with this one, don't know anything about Nikon but what about Burris Mr.T scopes. They are Titanium and have a forever warrenty, Fast turn around and the clairity can't be beat. As far as tuff goes, I don't think you will find a stronger scope made. The only drawback is price between 1,550.00 and 1,750.00
If you are interested let me know I have some pull and get deals from time to time. Just an Idea I thought you may consider.

I thought my post was invisible, thanks for the reply, sly.
I know nothing about Burris "titanium" scopes, never heard of them? Of course that price is about three times my budget, so I'll have to pass; unless my wife want's one for her birthday, instead of a new diamond? I can ask; you never know?
Seriously, this gun doesn't justify that serious a piece of glass; it's just a Ruger. ![[Roll Eyes]](rolleyes.gif)

Its funny that you should say it that way, Its just a ruger, lol, Everyone who knows me will tell you that I over scope all my rifles. To me if I can't see it I'll never be able to hit it.
Just because, What caliber is it? also just because, why Nikon? Do you realy like Nikon optics or is it pricing. The reason I ask is, I have never used Nikon glass. For me its always been either Burris or Leupold. One time I tried a Tasco world class but wasn't real pleased with it. I guess I'm spoiled with good glass. ![[Wink]](wink.gif)
By the way keep an eye on the big brown trucks, the boys in brown will be paying you a visit soon.

Yeah, it's just a Ruger, Mark II stainless, and the color of the Titanium Monarch matches a little better than a silver Leupold. I know, that's the way a chick would pick a scope to match her outfit. Oops, hope I don't get hate mail for that remark?
But, a lot of folks like Nikon, I may be stuck in a Leupold rut? Another thing, I don't see a Leupold in the range of magnification that I want, and available in silver, except the 4X12 and a 6.5X20.
This gun will probably never see any serious hunting, so any fair weather glass would do. I'm wide open, as long as it isn't pure junk. What I'd like, price no object; is a U.S Optics, custom.
So, no. I've never owned a Nikon. I have a certain amount of buyer resistance, but it's fading.

I played around with some 10x40 Nikon Bino's but I liked the Burris 10x42's better and even though the Burris were a little heavier the diffrance in the clairity and light gathering ability was tremendous.
A friend of mine is a Nikon nut, the only thing he says is that he don't like how long it takes to send stuff in for repair and get it back. Maybe I'm stuck in a rut. LOL

Believe it or not, I have heard the same complaint with every scope manufacturer foreign and domestic, including Burris. But never heard it about Leupold. Could be selective memory working, but that's how I see it? ![[Smile]](smile.gif)

Leupold IS fast in turning a scope around. Probably from lots of practice . Really though, every time I've had to send in a Leupold for repair (five or six times) they have gotten the scope back to me pretty fast.
I've only sent back one Nikon, and it DID take them forever. I forget exactly, but it was three or four months. I haven't commented on this thread because I've zero experience with the Ti or other high end Nikons. My only two experiences with other Nikons, one a "Buckmaster" that **** the bed on the first day and the other a fixed 6x that also **** the bed on the first day (that's the one that they took months to repair) has left me with no desire to ever try another Nikon scope. But, I hear the Monarch series is reliable. The glass is certainly very good. Just can't bring myself to try one though.

Dave, you're the guy I've been hoping to hear from. My attitude closely matches yours, although I'm a little tempted because it looks pretty neat. I guess I can order it from Cabellas for evaluation, I trust their return policy, if not their prices.

Leonard, over the last couple of years, I've been turning towrds Nikon optics. Hard to beat the clarity and in low light levels they are awesome. Most of my toys sport Burris but 3 now have Nikons. My newest, a 22/6mm, sports a 4.5-14 Nikon. It is a yote killer from H... !!!!

Leonard, I have owned only one Nikon, a 3X9 Monarch. I have a couple of dozen Leupolds, and the Nikon was the equal of any and surpassed most in clarity and light transmission. Priced less as well.

Now you went and done it! I've been here a few times before just looking but when I saw this thread...well I just had to register. hehe!
I shoot a Ruger 77VT in 22PPC and would love to have a nice big Nikon scope on it. I spend way too much on camera equipment(Nikon of course!) to afford that. I have lots of Nikon glass and it is second only to Carl Zeiss(Leica) for light transmission and quality. I wasn't super impressed with the Nikon scope I did shoot though...it was a Tactical and for my limited shooting ability wasn't much different than a Leupold or Burris. I have a cheap(really cheap,$69 on sale), Tasco 4x12x42 Tactical/Target. I've shot lots of coyotes with it and several sub-3/8" groups.
My thought is the best scopes are the ones you can afford and work with. My old Tasco works for me but will soon be upgraded to a Swift Premiere in 6x24x50. My eyes aren't what they used to be! Those "Titanium" scopes are sure pretty, just too pricey! Someday maybe... Nikonut
P.S. I see lots of familiar names around here, was wondering where all the PM's were hanging out these days.
