I don’t know how many of the Peanut Gallery know anything about Crime Prevention and Detection?
See, some Yahoo (talking out of his ass) came up with a high tech method of discovering exactly who killed somebody with a gun. Only if that gun was a semi or full automatic and left the spent cartridges lying on the street and only if this technology incorporated a tiny tiney micro engraved image on the primer, transferred from a special ingraining on the gun’s firing pin.
So far this ”technology” is strictly theoretical since it has not got off the Drawing Board and effectively, cannot be done. That, however, has not stopped the People’s Republik from admiring the concept and what’s more, the stupid bastards signed it into state code, or made it a law that no gun could be imported into this state unless it possessed and incorporated this shiny new concept. Period.
Never mind that no manufacturer decided to code their firing pins, the state said that’s fine; no firearms allowed into the state until they figure it out, and thus far, it’s been about 10/12 years.
So, only old models already allowed could be imported into Kalifornia, everything else would be excluded because they couldn’t pass the new safety protocols. Therefore, this state gets outdated models, if they can pass the safety features and survive the drop tests.
Look in any gun magazine and they will breathlessly test and evaluate 4-8 new models every month. They look mighty tempting but The People’s Republik won’t allow them to be brought into the state unless they have a special firing pins.
This policy was modified about 1 or maybe 2 years ago and they were forced under pressure to suspend their Hi Tech policy, since nobody could do it and they ran out of excuses.
This, however does not mean that our citizens can now purchase the latest firearms like everybody else. They still have some old guy and his retarded nephew testing safety features of the new models whenever they get around to it and this, of necessity, takes considerable time….after all, he can only do so much; with what he has. And it means that we never get new and improved designs. Which is the plan, which is to restrict guns coming into the state by any means they can devise.
So, I recently bought a gun from Springfield Armory. Pretty neat, except I found out a week later that the same company has a new model on the market called ? I forget, but it’s got features that my :last years” model doesn’t have! I wish I knew about it, and might have waited for the testing, etc. Anyway, same old story, California always gets last years guns!
The Democrats very own method of gun control is very effective in this state because they have that SUPER MAJORITY and can pass any law they want, as long as it impedes sales of firearms in this state. That;s my story and I’m sticking to it!

I dont think it would be hard to produce a couple of samples to show the board and get them to thinking all guns have this done. And therefore, have all gunsmiths agree it's been done. All my guns already have new firing pins installed with such marks, don't yours????

I think the point is, do the indents transfer accurately to all primers as they are fired and ejected. The word is that the discarded brass is not useful. Personally, I think it's mainly because of the Glock type pistols with the way the firing pin is activated. My empties show a bit of a slash across the primer. Not a nice round dent.
So, there you go. I doubt that it will ever solve a fucking crime!
Now, the big reason is because people can easily stone or file or maybe even from wear and now the firing pin won't transfer that name and address that the techies so desperately want to see and to validate the technology.
Forget it. We don't need it and California only postponed their law, it's due to resurrect.

what i was getting at is do up 30 pistols with a mark on pin show it to whoever and don't tell them the rest don't have such mark, what they don't know won't hurt.
It be like the DNR saying there are no cougars in Cali.

Firing pin fingerprint makes me think of the failed signature required pistol ammunition purchase regulations in Mo.
Put in play around the time of GCA68, required a personal signature and a minimum age of 21 to purchase any handgun compatible ammo, including 22LR.
As a kid, I could feed my 7mm, but not my 22LR.
This was supposedly put in place to catch criminals, after the fact.
It was discontinued in the 80's or very early 90's. All of those years and all of those records and it never contributed to solving even a single crime.
Mo. has made amends - constitutional carry, same day sales after the call, etc....
