Got the rifle back from the gunsmiths. Looks like they did a fine job on the rebarrel, cerracoat, and fluting. SS Lilja #4 at 24", Rem 700.

Three different loads and different bullets. I think I will go with the 30 Golds far right group, since they shot the tightest. The worse was 30gr Hammets top group, but I have close to 500 of them, so I may tune them up a little.
Yea, I am frugal and just tape over holes and re-use some targets.

I bought a few 90% inlet stocks from Weinig stocks several years back. This one is English Walnut.
This part took a little time, but I thought it was cool.

Thanx, been wanting to do this for a while. I have a few McMillans, but always liked walnut too. Got another stock for the 6XC sporter build with a Bartlien barrel coming up, in a piece of Bastonge. Gave the action and barrel to my local gunsmith yesterday, prolly have it back in a week. He is pretty quick.

I like the hell out of that little rig. Kinda understated; I think the English call that cap "skeletonized"? they do it on the buttplate, as well.

Don't plan on a can for this one. Sling swivel studs are coming. Checkering too. Takes time.

I lived in SE Alaska for 15 years. It rains a lot there, about 15 ft per year. A lot of guys buy stainless steel guns with nylon stocks but I could never get into that. There's something about wood that I can't get away from.
I do own a 3 1/2" 12 gauge shotgun with a shadow grass pattern and it's my go to waterfowl gun. I've killed a bunch of coyotes with it, too. I own more shotguns than I can shoot anymore and the rest of them are on wood stocks. I guess the shadow grass pattern just caught my eye.
