Yeah I see some of the smart ones agreed, the shooter jumped the trigger..
So when you heading back out to kill that wolf that's running around with your snare around its neck. Gives trappers a bad mark.
Posted by TOM64 (Member # 561) on December 12, 2013, 08:36 AM:
So tim tell us again why you aim in front of them and high when they are past 300 yards...
Posted by TA17Rem (Member # 794) on December 12, 2013, 01:30 PM:
Aim high and in front of what past 300 yds.????

Anytime I shoot at a coyote that's more than 300 yds I try to aim a little more to the high side and forward, maybe that's what you need to do as well.. later....
does this ring a bell?

What about it.??
Posted by TRnCO (Member # 690) on December 12, 2013, 03:14 PM:
I think we're all trying to figure out the "why". Why not aim right where you want to hit? I thought you shot some flat shooting rifles, NO? Are your coyotes that damn quick that they can react before the bullet gets there, so you're shootin' infront of them expecting them to "run into" the bullet, or what?
I remember you said one time that you did shoot infront of them to turn them and make them run back toward ya, so maybe that's why you shoot high and infront of them?
Posted by TOM64 (Member # 561) on December 12, 2013, 03:19 PM:

Anyway the report from your rifle must be reaching the deer at that range before the bullet so the deer is what we call jumping the string when bow hunting.. So if you try a similar shot in the future perhaps you have to compensate for this by aiming in front of shoulder or neck area rather than shoulder point or lungs.
Anytime I shoot at a coyote that's more than 300 yds I try to aim a little more to the high side and forward, maybe that's what you need to do as well.. later....
Try real hard and you might remember...

Why? Is that what you do on coyotes over 300 yds.? How many have you actually killed past 300 yds.???
quote:
I thought you shot some flat shooting rifles, NO
Yes I do..
quote:

Nope.
I only shoot in front of them when they are running. You know give them a little lead..
Anymore stupid questions?????
Posted by TRnCO (Member # 690) on December 12, 2013, 06:51 PM:
Questions are only stupid because your remarks are stupid. No where did you say that you were shooting high and in-front of "moving" coyotes, now did ya.
I shoot my share of coyotes Timmy, and without the use of a WT waving around over my head, and rarely beyond 300 because I don't need to. Maybe you should've stopped and visited with Rich to learn some tricks to get your coyotes closer than 300. You're the internet boy wonder know it all when it comes to coyote calling but yet you still haven't figured out how to call your Minnysoda coyotes with-in range, hence the need for the "crew".
Posted by TA17Rem (Member # 794) on December 12, 2013, 09:10 PM:
Well lets see you mentioned shooting in front of them so you must of been talking about runners.
If you must know for standing coyotes I usually aim a little higher than normal and either a little more to the front or back of coyote depending on which way the wind is blowing. In the real world when shooting at live targets and not steel plates you don't always have time to range, dial bullet drop or windage and no matter who's ballistic dope you use you will still be off as you can't predict what the wind is doing farther down range. So I like to put a little more into my aim.. If you shot a few more coyotes past 300 yds. perhaps you would of figured it out and not asked the questions. You just don't know..
I don't have any problem getting coyotes to come in close to the call, I usually stop them at 100-200 yds. as that's where I feel comfortable taking the shot.. As for the longer shots that's done when out hunting them, I happen to enjoy it as much as calling them, you don't do it so you wouldn't understand..
Yeah my coyotes are difficult to call in, about equal to some of Cal's toughest coyotes but I still do better than most here so I'm happy, and the ones that are too chicken shit to come in to a call are just living on borrowed time.
Oh and if the weather is too good and I don't have any snow I can trap them as well, it pays to be versatile if you want to put fur on the stretcher.
Right now my biggest joy is working the dogs, I learn from them and vise versa every day and its great to watch a dog run a coyotes track and not trash.
I don't know if you know or remember Hole huffer Kirby, but anyway he liked to watch coyotes just be coyotes and he said you can learn so much from it.. I find you can learn a hell of a lot more by hunting them, with calling coming in second..
Maybe that's why so many callers are still struggling. There problem not mine. Well I have to get some sleep, another big day tomorrow..

Do you actually believe your own self or are you like the rest of us and know you're full of shit?
"Anyway the report from your rifle must be reaching the deer at that range before the bullet so the deer is what we call jumping the string when bow hunting.. You said you do it to compensate for the sound reaching the deer before the bullet. Which is on par with the rest of your feeble thoughts. Now that you're aware how stupid that was you are recanting, typical timmy.
Posted by TA17Rem (Member # 794) on December 13, 2013, 05:56 AM:
Like I said in other post I assumed Freddy's bullet was going less than speed of sound at 750 yds. before actually seeing his ballistic dope for his cartridge that was pushing a bullet at 2950 fps. Get over it.
quote:
You said you do it to compensate for the sound reaching the deer before the bullet.
"No Tom, you said it." For my reason of doing it refer to last post above. I don't shoot at deer past 300 yds. never have and most likely never will. Go back into the archives here and you will see I have always done it the way mentioned in prior post when shooting coyotes at longer ranges.
It works for me and I've killed a lot of them past 300 yds...
Posted by the bearhunter (Member # 3552) on December 13, 2013, 07:00 AM:
i'm feeling smarter every day
you've killed alot at over 300 yet rag on Fred for his shot??. how many coyotes have you wounded past 300??. you try to cover so many condecending TFU's (thats tim fuck-up's) it makes my head spin
your a fucking idiot, deal with it.
now i gotta go try to find a wolf with a snare round its neck. later
Posted by ursus21 (Member # 3556) on December 13, 2013, 09:52 AM:
TFU's, that just might be my new favorite acronym.
Thanks for the laugh bearhunter.
Posted by TOM64 (Member # 561) on December 13, 2013, 10:20 AM:
No timmy, that was your TFU, read your own post and deal with it.
Posted by the bearhunter (Member # 3552) on December 13, 2013, 11:58 AM:
Ursus. did'nt mean to get in the way of you and Tim's frienship but some things just need to be said!!
Posted by TA17Rem (Member # 794) on December 13, 2013, 12:11 PM:
I have no problem with any of it so it looks like you will have to learn to deal with it Tom..LOL.
Yeah Bucks a wolf running around with a snare around its neck is something to be proud of...
Posted by the bearhunter (Member # 3552) on December 13, 2013, 02:04 PM:
please show where i said "proud"??.
poor Tim...... once again you prove without a shodow of a dought how narsacist you are and then keep spinning things to fit your feeble mind. it never ends.
i can't imagine how much embarassment you must be to family.

"About equal to some of Cal's toughest coyotes"
First off, stop referencing me or my shit. You have no clue. You have never been here and never will. Huber is the only person that has been here and knows anything about this country and the coyotes left in it. And to put it kindly he has told me he's never seen tougher coyotes anywhere. He got a whole new perspective on things and has had to adapt and change to survive at all.
One of the first things I told Huber when he started working here some was if he ever brought you anywhere near here, I was going to kick you in the balls, and then him. And I meant it.

And Scott has never hunted coyotes East of the S.D. border so that don't say much..
As for the last sentence "I'll kick you back"...

man cal you could make money saling tickets to that little deal.
by the way did the little jadg female work out?

looking at that picture with you and the dead deer you found, doesn't look like you could kick your way out of a wet paper sack.lol.
you on meth tim??. pehaps thats why you get all your dillusional thoughts

Big News on the IDIOT BOARD! Thanks Tim, now we are a laughing stock.
Hey, if I ban you for a stupid comment, which you richly deserve; will *they*, reactivate your suspended membership. Because, that's where you really belong, with your peers.
I read four pages of comments from some real EINSTEIN'S. In other words, nothing's changed since the last time I wasted 30 minutes over there.
Good hunting. El Bee

PS, and bearhunter, why, in Heaven's Name are you scouting that board, you can't possibly learn anything?
Posted by 3 Toes (Member # 1327) on December 13, 2013, 10:12 PM:
The Oklahoma dog is with Cenny Burnell, but I got to hunt her some last summer and she's a nice dog. Not as aggressive as some jagds.

don't get all wadded up Leonard. i frequent several hunting boards and have learned something from every one.
this board DOES have the most knowledge overall but not many chime in because your problem child can't keep his hand off the keyboard and tends to "somehow" ruin any good discussion that comes along
as for (them) reinstated him.... not a chance, for he is: "The Most Hated Man On The Web"

LB, reading that board is sheer entertainment. It's exactly like reading TA's posts here. It fascinates me how stupid a lot of people are. And makes me laugh out loud on a regular basis. I find great humor in both. I rarely light the fuse, but sometimes enjoy the fireworks.

The subsonic bullet theory is one of the best I have ever heard and really shows Tims genius. Even if Freds bullet was subsonic at 750 yards, it didn't start out that way.
Posted by Kokopelli (Member # 633) on December 14, 2013, 08:46 AM:
I dunno.............I kind of like the one about the speed of light slowing down in autumn, accounting for the shorter days. I can get behind that when combined with the rotation of the earth causing the target to not be where it appears.
Yeah, I'm going to go with that the next time I send an arrow off to await me in Valhalla.

Weird, but what do I know?
I received a long and rambling retort/justification from Tim via email this morning. No worry, I won't quote any of it.
Good hunting. El Bee
PS, just about any advice from Cal is solid gold, in regards to his previous post. Tim? Well, Cal gives good advice. I'm still chewing on that part 4/700 though?

"most people" don't have all winter off either
how many so far this year??. not including road kills, fetuses and such??

Oh yeah, he did hammer you for that wolf running around with a wire necklass.....
edit: which I take no notice of, other than he is trying a diversion.

He also proudly informed me that he's reinstated at predator professionals, so he has two opportunities for diversion and pontificating. For the moment.

3 Toes, do you ever get to Oklahoma are do you just ship the dogs? Do you breed a few dogs if so it must be rewarding to see one coming along.
I know a guy that breeds and sales a few treeing walker's. He's made a few friends doing so. He has a guy out of Virginia that's calls him up at least twice a week just to talk about dogs. He sent his female out there to be hunted and breeding. And got to spend a week out there hunting and being showed around.

CT,
My wife happened to be down there and picked this dog up.
I haven't raised any dogs for a long time. I just buy them. But I am going to start raising these Jagds if all goes well. I had a good male and have bought two females. We will see what happens from there.
