Just a heads up if you decide to try and get your 22x47 Lapua going again.
Gave my barrel a good cleaning with wipe-out patch out and was able to get a few more 50 gr. Bergers down range before they started to go poof again. Decided after that I wasn't going to mess with them any longer and went back to the 40 gr. bullets and no issues.
Was in Cabela's this fall and seen they had some Hornady 45 gr. s.p. flat base (bullet has a little length to it) so I got two boxes to try.
My rifle isn't real fussy about what powders I use so I grabbed a can of Hybrid off the shelf and loaded up some test loads. Got some nice groups and vel around 4300 fps., going to double check that with another chrony and then shoot a few 400-500 yd. groups and then test bullet on a few coyotes.
Never gave the cartridge much attention as far as brass flow goes but noticed tonight that I had to only trim them once and they have been fired 8 times. The 20x47 doesn't have a sharp shoulder like a Ackley improved and yet the brass hardy flows. Hmmm
Starting to loose some cases to loose primer pockets and burn through on the necks with some split..
So hey give the 45 gr a try if you get it going again..
