I have searched high and low for a mount to mount a light on a Benelli M1S90. Other than the Surefire forearm , i'm lost. The light I will probably use is a TLR1 Streamlight. Anyone know of a source?

I tapped the freefloat forend of the ARs and mounted a Yankee Hill Machine 4" rail to them. The bottom side of the rail is convex, so it mates up beautifully to a rounded surface.
I suspect you could tap the foregrip of your Benelli in a similar fashion, maybe with some epoxy to help keep it there?
Part # for the rail is: YHM 9464-4
Or do a bit of extra Dremel work, and thru bolt it? Atlas bipods (Accu-shot.com) makes a rail mounting kit for their short rails. I used it on a couple of Micky fiberglass stocks to mount forward rails for the Atlas, but you'd need a Forstner bit to relief the inside for the mounting kit to work. Can't remember if there is enough 'meat' on a Benelli forearm for that to be feasible?

Thanks Fred, I launched a search thinking there are enough Benellis out there and a mount would be a simple, order, pay & wait for UPS to deliver. Not so, so far. Drilling and mounting is probably going to have to do. I tried the Surefire forearm w/ their 6P light but it was so heavy it ruined the balance (for me) of the gun.
On a side note, I have been messing with a Streamlight "pocket size" flashlight, (SUPER TAC X). it's a f'in torch. You might check it out. I have used the ones I have for over a year now and they are worth what I paid for them (70.00 + -).

Mike, I guess the tricky part is gonna be where to mount the rail on the forend so it won't interfere with our weak hand. On the ARs, I put the rail @10:00 position, but that wouldn't work on a shottie. Maybe just put it@ 6:00 to keep the balance true? And as far forward as possible to not take up too much grip area?
6:00 would work best for using that Accushot mounting kit, too. When I installed rails on my Micky EDGE stocks, I wanted some extra insurance to secure that washer screw thingy to the lightweight stock material. So, I mixed up some 5min. epoxy and gobbed it in the void left from using the Forstner bit before I snugged the rail down. I also coated the screw itself with some paste wax, so I could still back it out if I had to. Needless to say, that sucka ain't goin' no-whea...
Streamlight does make some badazz torches!!! I've been carrying a 120 lumen Pro Tac 2AA (88033) pocket light every day for three years now, and its a little dandy! I use it all the time @ the shop, and the spot is bright enough to have shined a crap load of coons that Pokey has treed on our winter runs. That TAC x has got to be a monster!
Hey, what about those extended mag tube mounts that Streamlight makes? Would one of those work, if ya clamped it right to your barrel?

I looked at the Streamlight (on line) it is made of plastic and should work. Benelli offers their own version, which is a modified sling "ring" do-dad. But according to user reviews of both types neither one is very solid or reliable. The factory installed 2 shot extended mag tube is too large in dia for the clamp-on types I have seen so far. Mesa Tactical offers a made in house clamp on version but not one that will fit on my combo. It looks like, attach a piece of rail to the forearm gets the nod, for now.

I have a hard time finding anything Atlas. I looked on their site, seems everything is out of stock. Probably indicates they make good "stuff".

PP, though not shown in these pics, this is how I mounted my tlr1 on both my 221fb and my Benelli. I made the block on a buddies Bridgeport, and use an old weaver style ring I had laying around. Not quite as tacticool, but very functional.

Geordie, don't forget I want one of those things if you make it back down. That thing was the chit. Your pics aren't loading, but I remember exactly what it is.
But for a shotgun, I wish someone made an attachment for the fore-end cap assembly. You know that big nut you screw onto the end of the fore-end. I don't want to have to tap anything, or clamp something to the barrel. Seems like someone would have done this by now and maybe they have and I just haven't seen one. But a replacement cap that would squeaze down onto certain sizes of flashlights would be cool.

Cross, the mount you made is what I would call a Common Sense Mount. Thanks for sharing.
Back in the early nineties when H&K marked Benelli's showed up around here I bought a wood stocked M1S90. Then a bit later I got my hands on a slug gun w/syn stock. I wanted to add a 20ga, but could only find them in wood. I asked the Benelli/HK rep "why no synthetic stock 20's?" He had no answer, but said he would find out. Later his reply was " they have a hard time with reliability. Something to do with harmonic vibrations with the inertia system. Appx a year or so later, they (Benelli) got them working in 20ga synthetic. Bear with me, i'm going to ask any and all Benelli M1S90 owners a question.... (they made The M4 Benelli for a reason) Does anyone or has anyone had reliability issues adding lights, etc to their guns?

Joel, next time I am near the Bridgeport, and its not set up for something else, I will make a few more. I'll mail it to you so you have it for the start of the season.
Tim, The truth is, the height of the block was more or less random. It was a piece of aluminum I had that only required milling on one side, which gave me the primary dimensions you see in the pic. I think the next ones I make will be a little lower in profile. The reason being is that the current one has to be rotated bringing the light closer to the bore line which lines up the center of the beam with the optical view. I do this because I use thee light for killing and not scanning for eyes. Of course, the piece will be different for every rifle I am sure.

Ok. Not sure how your much higher your light sits off the mount but know with some lights I've used if you get the mounts too short the halo will interfere with the scope/white out... any way the set up looks good.
