Question about a 250-3000 labled Savage.
It is an older model with the sporter barrel.
It has the mentioned caliber and is lever action.
Has anyone ever reloaded for this, as that seems to be the only option...
I would think it might rival some of the other 25 caliber offerings, but just curious more about the gun more...
Thanks...

JB, anything 87 gr or less should work for you. The really early 250's have a 1 in 16" twist which is difficult to stabilize 90+ grain bullets. The 250 savage is a very nice deer size game & down hunting rifle.

I think if you look in Cabela's catolog they have a few loads for the 250.
I agree stay with the lighter bullets as the name says 250-3000, you should get 3000 fps. with some loads...
Did the rifle come with a lyman peep site?

Believe it or not, that was Bill Austins weapon of choice. Savage 99 in 250-3000 and later a 243.

And, not a damned thing wrong with it, either. Was Bill Austin left handed?
Good hunting. LB

I don't know Leonard. But I always heard he worked coyotes close and never missed.

That's the Rifle(Model 99) I started out calling with. But it was a .243 Win.Great Coyote Killer for sure.
