I have a Howa 1500 in 22-250 that I like but dont like the stock . Was thinking of putting on a Boyds thumbhole stock wondered if any one has one and what they think of it ,or does anyone have a suggestion for a more comfortable stock than the current ramline. Thanks pm

Paul, I have a walnut (w/checkering white line spacers, etc.) stock from a 1500 S&W that you can have, if you want? The barrel channel is hogged out for the heavy varmint barrel and the action is glass pillar bedded.
I'd be willing to trade it for that little item you were going to send me, once upon a time.
Good hunting. LB

Paul,
The rifle I used before what I'm using now was a Howa 1500, also in 22-250. Like you, I hated the OEM stock. Being a wrong-handed shooter, the line was all off for me, so I had it dropped into a Richards Microfit Wildcat thumbhole stock built with the right handed action and left-handed palm swell. The stock comes pretty rough and you do all the finishing, but that allows you to finish the palm swell and cheek weld to your personal liking. After getting it back, I got it sanded to what Iwanted and had a local gun plumber glass bed and pillar it and it is still the most comfortable stock I've ever had on a rifle. I sold the Howa and kept the stock. tried several times to get the couple hundred-plus I had in the stock back but could never find a buyer. Luckily, I recently discovered that my Ruger MII model 77 .25-06 will fit into it almost perfectly with a minimum of modifications (front mounting lug needs to be repillared at a 45-degree and some grinding/ trimming around the edges) and need to call the smithy to see what he'll let me pay him to do it.

Paul, noticed a couple missed calls on my cell, which is the norm because I hardly pay any attention to it unless I'm on the road.
Seems you have a valid excuse, I will rectify that, as soon as possible.
BTW, I found the stock, it's over there, leaning in a corner as I type this.
Good hunting. LB
