Anybody have any experience and/or thoughts on the Black Hills 32 grain .223 Barnes Varmint Gernade as a fur load for coyote or bobcat??
The Barnes dvd "Bullet Myths Busted" (Free @ 1-800-574-9200) mentions it as a fur friendly bullet.
Thanx!!

I asked this question when they first came out to see if there was a viable option using these in a .22-250 in close quarters on bobcats, but would still anchor a coyote and not tear either all to hell. Never got an answer. Interested to see if they've been run around enough yet for someone to know.

Speer is the latest to offer a no-lead .224 bullet similar in construction to the Barnes Varmint Grenade. Only available in loaded Federal Vital Shok ammo in .222, .223, .22-250 for the moment, I'd expect reloading components to be available as soon as the supply starts to catch up with demand.
If the 36 gr. VG is a little too fast in a 250, and the 50 gr. VG is a little too long for a 14" twist rifle, hopefully the 44 gr Speer TNT "Green" bullet is just right.

Speer's not my favorite bullet maker. But, Barnes is my least favorite maker. I'll wait until a quality maker makes them before I spend my hard earned money on lead free bullets.

I loaded some of the 62 grain VG's for my 6 x 47 so I can hunt within this condor zone. I still have not seen or heard how effective they are in anchoring a coyote.
