Finally got my hands on a box of Hornady 45 gr SP's in 204.
Under miserable shooting conditions got a three shot group that went 7/16" out of my T/C Encore. Mv of 3625 fps with 100 yard energy of 1175 lbs.
Haven't got to insert one into a Coyote yet, but it is high on my list of things to do.

That is one of the bullets I'm going to try on coyotes this fall too Ronnie. Only I expect I'll be moving them at at least 4100 fps
.
Wish somebody would make a plastic tip, a bit lighter, like say 37 or 38 gr., with a fairly tough jacket. Never happen though.

Could not agree more Dave. Never have liked SP's. These new polymer tips have me spoiled. I just thought that was pretty good accuracy for off the shelf ammo in a T/C.
Would like to be there when you make a 4100 fps connection. I think a lot of physics are going to take place quite rapidly.

I have thought alot about the new 45 grain hornadys, they seem like they could be the real deal as a coyote bullet. But I just can't give up on the 35 bergers.I have shot quite a few coyotes with the 35's and they keep impressing the hell out of me.Out to 300 yards they are great.Any further than that I would probably want my .22-250.But the Trajectory of the 45 grain is very impressive especially at 4100 fps.
That's a non issue for me cause I'll never get there.3625 fps is what I'll probably get too, although that is still very good.I'll probably break down and buy me a box of factory ammo and see how they shoot and then decide whether or not to shoot them at coyotes.

I've been thinking along the lines of another 204 lately. I probably got rid of mine too quick and should have known some better bullets would be coming out in the .20. It's hard to beat a 55gr V-max coming out of my Swifts at 3850.
Still thinking of a heavy barrel Savage for PD's loaded wide open.
Ronnie, keep us posted on the 45's.
