Here is a photo of my old Mauser 98 in .25-06. I killed a heck of a bunch of coyotes with it before retiring the old girl in favor of a custom .257 Ackley. I have the old .25-06 fully glass bedded now. Just yesterday I lapped the scope rings and mounted a Weaver 3x-9x-40mm "tactical" scope on it. I plan to place the old work horse back in service.

I love Mausers and I love 25'06. A Ruger 77 is not much different, either.

Good hunting. LB

That's a fine looking rifle, Rich. The local gunsmith has scheduled my Howa for a full glass bedding in the next coupla weeks. Get that done, squeak out some cash for new glass and we'll be ready to do some calling again.

I like the stock on your rifle.

Cdog911,
The stock is an old "Winslow" pattern. The same man who built the rifle for me also made the stock.

Rich,

That thing looks all in the world like "Treasure", our .256 Newton/Mauser 98... right down to the laminate, on the fore end and grip.

I like the taper on your bbl better, ours is a heavier Douglas (still tapered, but stout).

We had a Weaver K-6 on it, but it's blind (temporarily) while we round up another scope.

I'll give the .257 AI a good home. [Wink] [Razz]
