hi everyone i pressently own a NEF Handi Rifle in .223 cal. it has a synthetic stock and a bull barrel. I like the rifle but it puzzels me it consitensly shoots 2 rounds touching and 1 round going 2" high every 3 shots . I have changed 2 scopes on it and it still does it tried different ammo. So I am planning to sell it and buy a Stevens 200 any one used this rifle? any info would be appreciated.
Thank you Swanny

Where are you bagging the front of the NEF? A buddy of mine had the exact rifle (still has the rifle, sold the barrel, still has other barrels for that frame) and I have a couple NEF/H&R's as well and they all have to be bagged under the action in front. When you bag them under the forearm they don't shoot groups near as tight. Depending on the rifle, it may string or just open up the group. As the barrel heats the force pushing up on the barrel from the bag supporting the forend screwed into the barrel changes the harmonics shot to shot, making it inconsistant. With it bagged under the action there is no force pushing up on the barrel so the harmonics are more consistant shot to shot.

Hope this helps with your NEF.

Personally I think you're on the right track selling it and getting a steven's though. [Wink] I have a new savage 11fl and looked at the stevens long and hard but the steven's doesn't come in left handed so I spent the extra $$ and got the savage. If I was right handed I probably would have gotten the stevens and then after I knew the accuracy was good, no problems, I liked the rifle, etc, I'd get an aftermarket trigger for it.

later,
scruffy
