Well I FINALLY got out to test(break in) my .204 Ruger this weekend. This is the first time I have tried it on coyotes.Although I'm still in the very early stages of using it for coyotes.I'm very impressed so far.I shot 7 coyotes with it, the closest was about 75 yards to the farthest at about 250 yards. Most shots were typical 125-150 yard shots.Six of the seven were bang/flops.The only one that wasn't was shot at about 150 yards I hit high in the back. But he didn't move from where he was shot. And I was able to walk up and dispatch with a .22 pistol.Pelt damage on the six coyotes ranged from just a .20 cal entrance hole with no exit,to a quarter sized exit hole.I can totally live with that.
The other coyote that was hit in the back was another story.Little bigger than a fist sized exit hole.
All coyotes were shot with the 35 grain Bergers(match)at a muzzle vel. at around 3950fps.All in all we ended up killing 12 coyotes this weekend.
And putting over 1200 miles on the truck(over 250 bucks in gas).
GOOD HUNTING Chad

Thanks for the report!!
Mine should be tested by next weekend. Been a long time coming.
Those are excellent results, IMHO. The one with bad pelt damage hit high in the back could be expected from any caliber. I think this 204 has great potential....

Excellent!
Looks like I won't be getting that Tac .20 to work with after all. But I'm sure I'll have another .20 of some persuasion eventually.

Thanks guys,
I'm ready to go out again in the next couple weeks.I just hope work is not going to interfere.Seems like when I really want to get out and go callin, work is at it's busiest.
I too am really excited about this caliber. At first I was alittle skeptical at all the hype. But after seeing it in action I am sold that's for sure.It really Whacks em.Only time will tell if it will be a consistant killer, but so far it's a big thumbs up!
Good Hunting Guys Chad.......
