Leonard,
Keep us posted on the Ackley.
I know I love mine. The cannon. LOL. Killed alot of coyotes with it. Its got more ass than a 223, but isnt quite as violent as a 22-250, for lack of a better term. Its also quieter and less recoil than a 22-250 with almost as much performance. Great little gun. Im glad I didnt sell it.
When I need brass, I go buy, I cant remember the exact name, but they are Winchester varmint loads, sold in box of 50. They work great and shoot great as well when fire forming. Then you are left with Win brass ready to go. I buy the same ammo to fireform for my 25-06AI as well. I usually get 5 reloads from the brass. I could probably get alot more, I know guys that do, but I figger I got my moneys worth and dont have to worry about it. Plus I hate trimming.
Mine likes 26.8gr of H335 behind a 52gr AMax the best. It kills coyotes like lightning as well.
This may all be jibberish to you, but I have been shootin one for a few years now and love it. Thought I would pass along what I do know. Its a great gun out to 400 yards. And thats just because I havent shot any further than that with it..... Probably will work further. (Actually I did peel two prarie dogs off the same mound in June with it at 450, lazered. Forgot about that.)

No, not jibberish at all. I have been pondering what to use, and didn't have much to work with, got partial cans of 4064, 4320, 3031, and have never used Varget before, it has a weird color, and I didn't even know that it is extruded? I was expecting spherical?
I have a couple hundred 40 grain VMax bullets on hand, but have no desire to experiment with the various "no exit" theories. So, I'm going to attempt to find a load with the Varget, right off the label on the can, 27.3 grains and a 55 grain VMax. I loaded twenty of them for barrel break in....maybe today or tomorrow?
I bet I spent two hours working the damned trigger. Never had such a hard time with a Remington trigger, in my life! I had to leave it at about 1.75 pounds, but I like a much lighter trigger, might have to buy one?
Should be able to kill those dinky AZ coyotes, ya think?
Good hunting. LB
