Today I ordered my 2nd Cooper this time in a M21 Varminter in a 17 M4 I was just wondering what your thoughts where of this caliber and some personal accounts of using it. i.e. what loads shot well, performance on diffrent species, etc etc. It will primarily be used for ground squirrels and close range predator calling out to 150yrds kinda thing. Also what is your experience been like reloading and forming brass for this little puppy !! Thx in advance for your replies !!! Now I have to wait bout 5 months to get it !!
Knowing how Coopers shoot though it will be worth the wait !!
My other Cooper is a 223Rem in Montana Varminter.
Also this is only my second post so hello all !!! I live in Manitoba Canada and have only been calling predators for 2 yrs but I have hunted big game and waterfowl for over 20yrs. Tried the calling one day and fell in love in fact I gave up big game and now concentrate my time towards my calling now. Just a little background about me !!

I've been using my .17 Mach IV more than all my other rifles combined for about a year now. Have used it on everything. Ground squirrels, prairie dogs, jack rabbits, rock chucks and predators.
Mine likes Benchmark with the 25 gr. bullets, N133 with the 20's.
My coyote load uses the Berger 25 gr. Match bullet (not the MEF), with the Benchmark. Not supposed to be possible, the way I hear tell
, but that load has dropped coyotes in their tracks pretty consistently for me.

It's a great calling round. I used the same bullet as DAA ( Don't recall the powder ) with the same excellent results.

You could be right, Dave?
I will say that the MK IV looks to be one of the best, on paper. If you don't mind the prep.
Good hunting. LB
