My neighbor showed up in my driveway today toting an absolutely beautiful antique shotgun and he's looking for anything we can find on it. It's a 12-gauge, side-by side, with the old style hammers. It's hard to fully describe the beautifal and intricate detail in the engraving on this gun. It's got pointers engraved in each side, a damascus barrel, double triggers, the whole nine yards.
On the piece of metal that sits between the two barrels is written the following words:
Patent Solid Seel Through Lump C-G Bonehill, London Fine Damascus
On each side is engraved the word "Challenge" and the patent number is 3718 1877.
She's a little loose at the joints and gave the last guy to shoot her a black eye, but she's an absolutely magnificent old shooting iron and he'd be grateful to anyone that might be able to direct us to a source of information.

The engraving on this gun is different and the barrels are damascus steel. This one sold for $3300. And to think that my neighbor has his lying on a shelf in the closet.

I hope you are not shooting smokeless powder loads in it? You can load up some blackpowder loads and they work fine, just a pain to clean.

The fellow that owns it inherited it and is not a hunter or a shooter. The gun will be relegated to hanging on a wall from here on out. But lordy, is it ever pretty. Wish I could find one like it just to have as decor.

I have an as new D grade Parker with twist barrels and a near perfect trojan with steel barrels. The D grade has some sentimental value so I would have to get a premium for it. The trojan I can't shoot anymore since I had an eye injury. I would part with it for market value.
