Why is it that when it comes to building the perfect rifle that will give the shooter perfect bullet placement, money becomes no object. I wonder if this behavior stems from the great-grandfather days, when they had one bullet and had to make it count or the family went hungry. Are we still in that frame of mind today as we grow older that we only have one bullet one chance? What happens to the kid in us that finds a brick of ammo in dads closet and has it spent before dad gets off work. I for one have a hard time trying to decide if I want to invest money in one shot and make the kill or spend the money on cheap ammo and kive em hell!

Well, I can only speak for myself, but I go to great lengths to never miss a coyote. Whatever it takes. When I do miss, My head swells and feels like it is going to explode, I shake uncontrolably, and the profanity expelled is unbelievable. I hate missing a coyote worse than about anything I can think of. Last year (from Jan. 1 to Jan. 1) I shot about 85 coyotes. I missed 4 times, not counting a few hail marys from the truck at 3 to 5 hundred yard coyotes. I'm just talking about called and dogged coyotes. Those misses still burn in my feeble memory. My goal has been to break 50 with no misses, and I have come damn close a couple times, but haven't done it yet.

I missed one last week at 75 yds. broadside. I knew it had to be the gun.I drove another mile to the strip pit and shot a 1 in. group at 100 yds over the hood of my truck.Pissed off then and still am now. Bluetrapper

I can relate to the obsession idea. My goal is the perfect coyote rifle. Accurate enough to make five hundred yard shots feasible. Enough power to drop them on the spot at 500 but still leave minimal damage from 25 to 500 yards. And light enough to carry 1 mile if I Have to. LOL.
Any Suggestions?

I usually pull a bonehead around 20-25 kills. I can still remember the last miss. Took safety off too quick and it was the first yote of the season. He was dead to right broadside at 70 yards. I goofed and Purp went off about 10 feet over the yote. Still burns me !!!
