I shoot a lot and of course it takes it's toll on hearing.
Any thoughts on hearing protection gear that works?
Can't make the muffs work.Have tried 'customs' but wind noise drives me nuts-and we have wind here in SoDak.
Specifically, any thoughts on this 'Soundgear' product?

I don't like the muffs, either. Tried some of these easy to insert little guys, and they are all I use anymore.

DiYi: tried similar products and you will still have issues with the wind.
Walker quad ear muff's is what I use for protection and hearing enhancement. Wind can be a issue but you can turn the volume knobs up or down to cut most of the wind noise out or keep it to where its bearable.
The only ear protection that is almost 100% is a good old fashion pr. of foam ear plugs that fit your ear canal. Good luck on your search.....

I have one program in my digital (in the canal) aids that is designed specifically for driving with the windows down. I have another selection that is a 5db reduction and is good for talking on the phone. $2,000 each, and I hardly ever wear them any more.

Good hunting. El Bee

If you're getting wind noise from e-muffs, try taping a piece of microphone foam over the pickups.
I have a set of Pro Ears e-muffs and had the little foam wind muffler tear off the pickup area. Made the wind noise terrible with the volume up! I taped a piece of foam back over it & problem solved...

That said, for hunting I've been wearing a set of SureFire Earp Pro EP3 Sonic Defenders They take the painful 'crack' out of a gunshot, but are not a substitute for full protection. Those little ear buds are comforable enough to wear for hours, and your can still have a conversation with them in. Pretty cheap, too...

In the 'for what it's worth' department I may have found something that works.Dug up a sweat shirt with a jumbo sized hood that was xtra large and went over my muffs.Eliminated much of the wind noise and didn't interfere with my shooting yesterday.

Foam plugs inserted into the ear canals with old fashioned zero tech muffs works for me at the range. With the muffs off I can still carry on a conversation with the plugs in.

For the range, I use tech muffs plus foam plugs. Never fails, a guy has a muzzle break next to me.

If its really windy, I usually find something else to do. That includes coyote hunting.
